To the faculty and staff,

First off, thank you so much for allowing me the opportunity to work with you all in such an important place. Next, I would like to introduce myself.

My American name is Benjamin Oser, my Hangul name is 김 경 식. I am 25 by American age and 26 in Korean form. I come from New York City where I recently completed my Master’s Degree studying Higher Education Administration and Student Personnel from New York University (NYU). Essentially my studies included the study of student services, services such as housing and activities/programming, within a university environment. Before that I had completed my Bachelors in Science studying business marketing from Quinnipiac University.

My family includes my mother, father, and younger sister, all of whom now live in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. I chose to come to Korea in an effort to better understand myself, the language, the people, and the culture of this country. Because I was adopted when I was only three months old, I didn’t have the opportunity to learn anything about birth country. Beyond the classroom and helping students with their conversation skills, I hope to make this a personally beneficial trip in figuring out what it means to be Korean for me.

Again, I am very pleased and honored to meet all of you and I look forward to working together. Thank you for having me. Lastly, please do not hesitate to ask any questions – I am just as much of a resource to the students, as well as, the faculty and staff.
