    Every lunchtime, he went home and cooked his food over a fire
    점심시간이되었다 그는 집으로 갔다 가서 불위에다가 요리를했다
    He skinned the animals he their skins to use later
    그는 빈털터리어서 동물의 가죽을 요리를한것이다
    The afternoons were very hot, much too hot to work
    오후에는 매우 더워서 뜨거웠다 뜨거워서 일을 못했다
    So, after lunch, Crusoe climbed into a hammock he'd made and snoozed
    크로소는 점심시간에 만들어서 올라가서 졸았다
    After his nap, Crusoe stayed near his tent, making things
    낮잠을 자고난뒤에 크로소는 텐트에가서 제조를하엿다
    When it got dark, he wrote a diary by candlelight
    어두움곳에서 촛불을켰다 그는 일기같은것을 쓰고있었다
    Time passed quickly
    시간은 빠르게 지나갔다
    So he wouldn't lose track of it, he made notches on a pole, one notch every day and a bigger notch on Sundays
    그는 지나간자국을 잃었다 그가 하루는 산골짜기에 큰 표지판같은것을 일요일마다 만들었다

    Crusoe explored every part of the island
    크로소는 섬의 일부만 탐험을했다
    There was a beautiful valley in the middle, where orange trees grew...and lots of wonderful vines, with rich crops of grapes
    한가운데는 아주예쁜 오렌지 그리고 훌륭한 포도당이었다
    It was a paradise
    천국이었다
    Crusoe began to make friends with the animals, too
    크로소는 친구를 만들기 시작했다
    He spent hours teaching a young parrot to speak
    그는 어린앵무새에게 한시간정도 교육을 가르쳤다

    One day, he accidentally shot a baby goat
    어느하루는 우연히 갓난아이 염소를 발견했다
    He took it home to nurse and it soon became tame
    그는 한손에잡고 집으로 데려고 유모처럼 길드렸다
    Just before the rains came,he planted his grains of corn.
    비가내렸다 그의 곡물인
    The corn grew fast and soon he had a fine cornfield.
    곡물이 빠르게 성장하였다 그래서 훌룡한 옥수수밭이되었다

    But there was a problem
    그러나 문제가있었다
    Most of the birds thought the corn looked good, too
    문제는 새가 보고있었다 좋은 생각이났다
    Crusoe had to fire his gun into the air, to scare them away
    크로소는 불이 공기로갔다 놀라서 멀리떨어졌다
    Crusoe wondered what he should store the corn in
    크로소는 곡물때문에 놀랐다
    Finally, he decided to make some clay pots
    마지막날에 그는 결정적인 것을 점토로 만들었다
    It wasn't easy
    쉬웠다
    His first pots had very wobbly edges
    그의 첫번재는 대단했다
    But Crusoe soon got better at making them
    그러나 크로소는 그들을 위해서 더좋은것을 만들기시작했다

    He left the post to dry in the sun and then baked them in a fire
    그는 왼쪽 기둥에있는 불에다가 마른것을 구웠다
    Finally, the corn was ready to bake
    최종적으로는 마른 곡물을 굽는다
    First, Crusoe ground it into flour
    첫번째로 크로소가 땅과 곡물이었다
    Then he mixed it with water
    그다음꺼는 물뭐 여러가지가 막 섞여있었다

    One morning, Crusoe walked to a different part of the island
    아침, 크로스는 걸어서 다른섬의 일부에갔다
    Looking out to sea he saw land, far away
    보이는것은 바다였다
    Suddenly, he felt very alone
    갑자기 그는 대단한걸 느겼다 다만 홀로였다
    "I'll escape!" he decided
    "달아나다!" 그가 결정적인것을알았다
    "I'll make myself a boat and escape"
    "난 보트를 만들어서 달아날거야"
    So he cut down a big tree and chopped off all the branches
    그는 큰나무를 아래쪽에서 베었다 그리고 나뭇가지도
    Then he began to hollow out the trunk
    그는 가운데를 통비게했다
    After weeks of hard work, the boat was finished
    단단할까생각했다 끝네 보트를 완성했다
    Crusoe looked at it thoughtfully
    크로소는 바라보며 깊이생각을했다
    It was huge
    거대했다
    When he tried to push the heavy boat down to the sea, it wouldn't
    budge
    그는 열사병이날정도로 큰보트를 바다로 밀었지만 조금움직였다
    He shoved... and he heaved... it was no good
    그는 밀었지만 안되어 들라고했다
    "I'll have to big a canal from the boat," he realized
    "난 큰보트를" 그는 실현했다
    "Then i can float it to the water"
    "물에띄울수있다"

    But that didn't work either
    하지만 일은 해야됬다
    It was too much for one man to do
    많은것을 혼자하는건
    "I'm stuck," thought Crusoe sadly
    "난 막대기다" 크로소는 슬픈생각을했다
    He sighed
    그는 한숨을셨다
    He'd been on the island for four long years and his clothes were in rags
    그는 4개의 긴섬을 돌았다 그리고 그의 옷을 걸래로삼았다
    "If I'm going to stay, I'd better make myself some new clothes," he said
    "머무르지말고 가자 새로운 옷을만들자" 그가 말했다
    Taking pieces of goatskin, he sewed himself a new pair of breeches, a jacket and a hat
    마음을끄는것은 염소의 가죽이었다 그는 꿰메어 새로운 반바지 재킷 그리고 모자를 만들었다

    Proudly, he tried them on
    거만한그는 시도를해보았다
    His new clothes probably looked odd, but Crusoe was delighted
    그는 새로운 옷을 바라보았다 크로소 아주기뻐했다
    To complete his new outfit, he made an umbrella out of sticks and covered it with goatskin
    그가 만든 우산 막대기도 염소가죽으로 만든것이다
    Now, he stauyed dry when it rained
    지금 그는 비가오는데를
    The umbrella protected him from the fierce sun as well
    우산이 그를 보호에줘서 괜찬았다

    "I think I'll build another home," Crusoe decided
    "또다른 집을 만들겠어" 크로소 말했다
    "A lovely summer house in the valley where the orange trees grow"
    "여름에 골짜기에 집을질거야 그리고 오렌지나무를 자라게할거야
    So he built a tent in the valley and planted trees around it
    그는 골짜기에 텐트를치었다 그리고 식물,나무를 주위에 심었다
    It was a perfect place to relax in the hot summer months
    굉장한 장소여서 그는 마음을 풀었다
    One day, Crusoe thought,
    어느날 크로소는 생각했다
    "Since this island's my home,
    이곳은 섬이고 내집이야
    I ought to get to know it as well as I can
    모든것을 알고있어 그래서
    I think I'll explore the coast"
    해안을 탐험하자"
    And he made another boat
    그래서 그는 또다른 배를 만들었다
    The second boat was far too small to escape in, but it was ideal for sailing around the island
    두번째보트는 작았다, 하지만 주위에섬이 많았다
    So off he went
    갔다

    On his return, he made a map and marked all the places he had discoved

    He realized that he didn't mind staying on the island after all

    But then everything changed
    하지만 모든것이 달라졌다
    One day, Crusoe was wandering along the beach when he saw a footprint
    낮, 크로소는 해변에서 발자국을보았다
    He stared at it for a moment, his heart thumping, then ran home
    그는 빤히보았다 순간 그의심장이 놀랐다 집으로 뛰어왔다
    Crusoe was so scared, he hid for a week
    크로소는 겁을먹었다 그는 1주일동안 숨었다
    Finally, he shook himself
    결국 그는
    "This is silly!" he thought
    "어리석어!" 그는 생각했다
    "It's probably my own footprint!"
    "나의 발자국일거야"
    So, he went back and measured his foot against the print
    그는 다시가서 정확이측정할라고 그의 발을 찍어보았다
    But the footprint was larger
    하지만 발자국이 더컸다
    It definitely belonged to someone else
    명학이 여기에 누가있는것이다
    The footprint made Crusoe very nervous
    크로소는 발자국이 매우 신경쓰였다
    But days, weeks, months passed and no one came... until the afternoon he was out hunting, when he made a grim discovery
    낮,지나가다 돌아왔다를 오후까지 생각했다 그는 사냥을갔는데 엄격한것을 발견했다

    On the beach were the remains of a fire and human bones.
    해변에는 인간의 뼈가남아있었다
    Crusoe felt sick.
    크로소는 만져보았는데 딱딱했다
    Something terrible had happened here.
    무언가 여기에서 무서운일이 일어나고있다
    He didn't feel happy on the island anymore.
    그가 만져보았는데 섬에는 행복한게있다
    Every day, he watched the sea anxiously.
    낮,그가 바다를 망을보고있는데 불안했다
    Maybe the visitor would come back
    어쩌면 방문자일수도있어 가보았다
    For several months, he waited
    그는 기다렸다
    Again, nothing happened
    아무것도 일어나지안았다
    Then, early one morning, he spotted a fire on the beach
    그는 일찍일어나 아침에 해변을갔다
    He crept closer to watch
    그는 기어가서 지켜보았다
    From his hiding place, he saw a group of people dancing around a fire and feasting
    그는 집단처럼 사람들이 춤을지고있었다 꼭파티갔았다

    Watching them, Crusoe felf uneasy
    크로소는 그들을 지켜보았는데 불안했다
    When their party came to an end, the people jumped into their canoes and paddled away
    그들의 파티는 복잡하고 까다로워서 멀리있었다

    Now, Crusoe was very worried
    지금 크로소는 매우 걱정스러웟다
    He had the feeling they wouldn't like him to be on the island
    그의 감점이 좋았다
    "They may find me someday," he said to himself
    "그들은 언젠가 나를 찾아낼거야" 그가 자신에게 말했다
    "I'd better be ready."
    "보다좋게 준비할거야"
    So he strengthened the fence around his home and fixed guns into it
    그는 주위에 울타리를쳐놓고 그의집으로가 고정된총
    Then he planted trees around the fence to hide that
    그는 식물과 나무로 주변을가렸다
    He wasn't taking any chances
    그는 기회를노릴것이다

    - (Chapter6) The captive(40~44)
    Another two years went by, with n sign of the visitors
    또다른 방문자가왔다
    Then, one summer's day, Crusoe spotted five canoes, packed with people and nearing the beach
    여름에 크로소는 해변에있는 사람들에가 가까이갔다
    He crept closer
    그는 기었다
    The men landed, built a huge fire and began to roast chunks of meat on it
    땅을에서 사람들이 거대한 고기를 불에 굽기시작했다
    They had two captives with them
    그들은 두명의 포로
    As Crusoe watche, the men hit one of the captives over the head
    크로소는 지켜보았다 그들은 포로의 머리를 때렸다
    Suddenly, the other captive broke away from the group and started to run
    갑자기 포로가 부수고 멀리 뛰어서 도망쳤다
    Two of the men chased after him
    두명의 사람들이 쫓아왔다 그에게 뒤따라갔다
    Crusoe gasped
    크로소가 헐덕거렸다
    The men would kill him
    사람이 그를
    "That captive could be my friend!" Crusoe thought
    "포로너는 아의친구야!" 크로소가 생각했다
    "I'll try to help"
    "도우는것을 해보겠어"
    He followed the men until the main group was out of sight
    그는 쫓는 사람을
    Then he jumped out and hit one of the pair with his gun
    그는 한명을 그의 총으로 때렸다
    The other man raised his bow, but Crusoe was too quick for him
    다른사람이 그의 활로, 그러나 크로소가 쨉싸게 그에게갔다
    He fired his hun and the man fell
    그가 그의사람에게 떨어지라고했다
    The captive stopped running, and stared
    포로에게 달리는것을멈추고 빤히바라보았다
    Crusoe smiled to show he was friendly and beckoned to him
    크로소는 미소를지으면서 친철하게 손짓을했다
    The man smiled back
    남자는 미소를지으면 갔다
    He followed Crusoe home and they had a large meal
    그가 크로소의 집으로가 큰식사를했다
    After that, the man gave a huge yawn
    남자가 큰하품을했다
    Soon, he was fast asleep
    곧이네 그는 빠르게 잠이들었다
