    The crocodile woke with a jump
    악어가 뛰어올랐다
    When he saw the fire he bellowed in fear
    불때메 큰소리로울며 두러워했다
    The fire was licking at his scales
    불은 자신은 비늘
    Taking a flying leap he jumped right over the flames...and disappeared into the river with a splash
    날아올랐다 그리고 강으로 사라졌다

    When the crocodile heard the rabbits laughing he was very annoyed
    악어는 토끼 웃는 소식을 들었을때 그는 매우화가났다
    He shouted at them from the river
    그는 강에서 질렀다
    Keep off our land then! cried the rabbits and that s how it s stayed ever since
    그후에 우리땅에 가까이오지말라 라고 소리를쳤다 토끼들은 머물러있었다

    Dragons even lived in the sky
    용들은 하늘에서 살았다
    When they were angry storms blew up
    그들은 화가나면 폭풍이친다
    Bolts of lightning were flames shot from a cross dragon s nose
    번개볼트는 용의 코에서 나오는 화염이었다

    One day a wizard appeared in the forest
    낯에 마법사가 숲에 나타났다

    I wish for as many children as my wife is thinking about now he said
    제 아내가 생각하고 있기때문에 나는 아이가 많으면 좋겠다 라는 소원이다
    Stan's wish came true! But they didn't have two... or ten... or even fifty children.
    스탠은 진실로 원했다

    그의 친구 샘이생각났다
    "A dragon has been scaring my sheep" he said
    "용과 내양을 무서워한다"라고 말을했다
    "If you can find its cave you might find treasure
    "당신의 동굴을 찾을수있다면,당신의 보물도 찾을수있을것이다"
    So, stan set off in search of the dragon and its treasure
    그래서 스탠은 보물을 찾으로 드래곤과 떠났다

    The dragon found him.

    Instead,he said, "I bet I`m stronger than you.
    그보다도"당신들 내기하자
    I can squeeze a stone until it drips!"
    돌멩이를 누가더 오래동안 쥐고있는지"

    "당신은 강하다!" 으르렁 거리면 말을했다
    He didn`t know stan`s stone was a lump of old cheese
    스탠은 돌멩이데신 치즈덩어리를 들었기때문이다
    The dragon took stan to meet his mother
    용의 어머니를 만났다
    "It must have been a trick," she said
    "그것은 마술이다" 라고 말했다
    "If you really are stronger than my son, I`ll give you our treasure"
    "네가 정말 내 아들보다 더강하면,`당신에게 우리의 보물을 주겠다"

    She found two clubs
    그녀는 두 클럽을 찾아갔다
    "See how far you can both throw these"
    "당신이 던져서 누가 더멀리가"
    "I`ll throw mine over that mountain,"said the dragon
    "나는 그산 위에 던질게요"드래곤이 말했다
    "How about you?"
    "넌어때?"
    "Ican`t throw now,"stan said
    "나는 이제 던질수있다"스탠이 말했다
    "The moon`s in the way!"
    "방법은 달이야"
    Now,the dragons were scared
    지금은 드래곤이 겁을먹었다
    Stan was the strongest man they had ever met
    스탠은 강한 남자이다
    They made a pian to kill him in the night
    그들은 그를 죽일라고 밤에 갔다

    But stan heard them
    스탠은 그들을 들었다
    He decided to fool them and put a log in bed
    그가 그들을 확실히 바보 그래서 통나무를 침대에 넣다
    In the middle of the night,the dragon crept to stan`s bed
    밤에 드래곤이 살금살금 스탠의 침대에 가서 한가운데를
    BAM! He whacked the bed just where he thought stan`s head was
    벤! 헤드라고 생각했을때 마구두드려
    "That`s killed him!" said the dragon
    "그는 죽었을거야!"드래곤이 말했다

    When stan appeared next morning, the dragons were astonished
    스탠은 다음날 아침에 나타났을때 드랜곤은 깜작놀랐다
    "I have a little bump on my head," he said
    '나는 내머리에 작은 혹이있어"
    "Perhaps a flea bit me in the night?"
    "아마도 벼룩이 나를쳤겠지"
    Stan was much too clever for the terrified dragons
    드래곤들이 스탠이 영리한여 겁이났다
    They took out their treasure
    그들은 약속대로 보물
    "Here," they said
    "여기있어"
    "Take it! Just go away and leave us alone!"
    "손에쥐고 올바르게 갔다 그리고 홀로간다"

    They even carried the treasure home for him
    보물을 운반하여 그에게
    Stan had enough gold to buy his huge family all the food they could eat
    스탠은 금을 충분히 사서 가족 모두에게 준다음 식량은 거대하게 먹였다

    Tom loved fishing... until the afternoon he caught a worm instead of a fish
    톰은 오후에 낙시를갔다 낙시를 하는데 벌레가 나왔다
    An old man had seen him
    늙은 남자가 와서 그에게
    "That worm is trouble," he warned Tom
    "그 벌레를 고생시켜"그가 톰에게 경고를했다
    "But don`t throw it back in the river
    " 강이있는데다 던져
    You`ll only make things worse"
    유일한 호흡장치에요 보다나쁜놈이야"
    Tom didn`t know what to do
    톰은 알고있었다
    He tried to hide the worm in a well
    그가 벌레를 숨기려고 우물에 너었다
    But a week later, the worm crawled out
    그러나 몇주있다가 벌레는 기어나왔다
    It had grown even bigger
    크게 성장하여

    The worm was hungry and angry
    벌레는 배도고프고 화가났다
    It chased the cows around the fields
    암소를 쫓았다
    Then it chased the villagers around their houses
    그다은엔 마을사람들을 쫓았다
    Tom felt terrible
    톰은 무서웝다
    The worm was a menace - and it was all his fault
    벌레는 위협했다 그의 잘못이었다
    Brave knights came from miles around to kill the worm
    용감한 기사들이 왔다 마일스는 벌레를 죽여라
    But it was too strong
    그러나 강했다
    It curled itself around them and squeezed them so they couldn`t fight
    싸우는데 꽉쥐었다
    Finally, Tom went to see a wise woman to ask for help
    마지막으로 톰은 슬기로운 여자에게 도움을 청하로 갔다
    "You caught it
    "당신들은 붙들것이다
    You must get rid of it,"
    당신들은 해방될것이다"
    she told Tom
    그녀가 톰에게 말했다
