- Dr. Kemp desided to take a break, so he stood up and walked to the window.
의사 켐프는 좀 쉬기로 마음먹었어요. 그래서 그는 일어나 창문으로 걸어갔어요.
Through the window, he saw a dirtylooking man running through the street, waving his arms.
창문을 통해 그는 더러워보이는 남자가 그의 손을 흔들며 거리를 뛰어가고 있는 것을 보았어요.
"Another crazy idiot screaming about the invisible man.
"또 다른 미친 바보가 투명인간 때문에 비명지르고있군.
Why does this town have so many?" he asked himself.
왜 이 마을에는 저런 사람이 많을까?" 그는 스스로에게 물었어요.
But the people who saw Marvel up close did not think he was crazy, especially when they heard heavy breathing behind Marvel.
하지만 사람들은 마벨을 가까이서 보고는 그가 미쳤다고 생각할 수 없었어요.
마벨뒤에서 특이하게 무거운 숨소리를 들었거든요.
Two boys were suddenly pushed to the ground and a dog was kicked by an invisible leg.
두 소년이 갑자기 넘어지고 강아지가 투명한 발에 차였어요.
Everyone panicked and deserted the streets.
모두가 당황하고 길거리를 도망쳤어요.
Some even screamed as they ran, "The invisible man is here!"
누군가는 심지어 비명을 지르며 달렸어요. "투명인간이 여기있다!"
However, everything was normal at the Jolly Cricketer Inn.
그러나 '명랑한 크리켓선수' 여관에서는 모든 것이 정상이었어요.
The regulars were enjoying their regular brew when Marvel came crashing through the door, screaming, "The invisible man is after me.

No sooner had they bolted the door when a powerful thumping was heard on the door.
강력한 탁소리가 문에서 들리자마자 그들은 문을 걸어잠궜어요.
"Don't open it," Marvel cried in terror.
"저걸 열지마요." 마벨은 공포에 질려서 외쳤어요.
Are all of the doors locked?"
모든 문이 잠겼나요?"
"The back door! The yard door!" exclaimed the barman.
"뒷문! 마당 문!" 바텐더가 설명했어요.
The barman rushed to check the doors, but it was too late.
바텐더가 문을 확인하러 달려갔지만 그땐 너무 늦었어요.
"The yard door is open.
"마당 문이 열려있어요.
He could inside now," he told them.
그는 지금 안에 있을겁니다." 그가 다른이들에게 말했어요.
Then, there was the sound of a slamming door.
그 때 그곳에 문이 탕 닫히는 소리가 들렸어요.
The barman reached for a knife, and the policeman for his gun.
바텐더는 칼을 잡으려 손을 뻗었고 경찰은 총을 잡으려 뻗었어요.

- From nowhere, something dragged Marvel out from his hiding place.
지금 여기에서는 무언가가 마벨을 숨어있던 장소에서 끌어냈어요.
The invisible man dragged Marvel into the kitchen.
투명인간이 마벨을 부엌으로 끌고갔어요.
The policeman followed and tried to grab onto the invisible man,
but he felt a large fist smash into his face.
경찰은 따라가 투명인간의 위에서 그를 잡으려 했지만 그는 커다란 주먹이 그의 얼굴을 세차게 후려치는 느낌이 들었어요.
The barman and the policeman both tried to tackle the man.
바텐더와 경찰은 양쪽에서 남자에게 달려들려고했어요.
While the invisible man was fighting off the two men,
Marvel managed to crawl away and escape through the yard door with the three books.
잠깐동안 투명인간은 두 남자와 싸우다가 떨어져 기어도망가는 마벨을 처리하고 3개의 책과 함께 마당 문으로 도망쳤어요.
The fight continued for a few moments.
싸움은 잠시동안 계속되었어요.
Then, the two men realized they could no longer feel the invisible man.
그리고 두 남자는 곧 투명인간을 만질 수 있다는 것을 실감했어요.
"Where is he?" one asked.
"그는 어디있지?" 하나가 물었어요.
"He must just escaped," the other said.
"그는 반드시 도망쳤을거야." 다른 하나가 말했어요.
Just then, a plate went flying through the air.
그리고 접시가 공기중을 날아왔어요.
The pliceman shot five times in the direction from which it came.
경찰은 다른것이 올때부터 명령아래 5번쏘았어요.

In another part of town, Dr. Kemp was busily working on his research.
마을의 또 다른 부분에서 의사 켐프는 바쁘게 연구를 했어요.
He was taking down some notes at the time of the fight.
그는 싸우는 시간에 흥미있는 것들을 노트에 적고있었어요.
When he heard the gunshots, he lifted his head and thought, "Hmm.
그가 총소리를 들었을때 그는 머리를 들어올리고 생각했어요. "음.
Another fight at the Cricketer tonight."
'크리켓선수'에서 또 다른 싸움이 오늘밤 벌어지나 보군."
He went back to his work, but then the doorbell rang.
그는 일로 다시 돌아갔지만 그 때 초인종이 울렸어요.
After a few moments, no one came into his study to see him,
so he called his housekeeper.
잠시후 아무도 서재에 그를 보러오지 않자 그는 가정부를 불렀어요.
"Who was at the door?" he asked.
"누가 문에있습니까?" 그가 물었어요.
"No one," she told him.
"아무도요." 그녀가 그에게 말했어요.
"It must have been a prank."
"그거 농담이겠죠."
Dr. Kemp then forgot about it
and continued to work until two in the morning.
켐프는 그 후 이것을 잊고 새벽2시가 될때까지 일을 계속했어요.
He desided to go to bed so he went up to his room.
그는 그의 방에서 잘거라고 다짐했어요.
Just before he entered his room, he saw something that looked like a blood on the floor.

Then, he looked at the door handle and saw it covered with mud.

At that moment, there was another voice in the room.

Dr. Kemp looked around the room.

In the corner, he saw what looked like a bloodstained bandage wrapped around an arm that wasn't there.

Dr.Kemp tried to pull away and fight, but the invisible man said,
"Kemp! Stop this.

"켐프! 좀 멈추라구.
You know me.
넌 날 알잖아.
I'm Jack Griffin.
난 잭 그리핀이야.
We went to college together."
우린 같이 대학을 갔지."

- Kemp now sat up and asked, "The Jack Griffin who won the college medal in chemistry?"

The invisible man replied, "Kemp, can I explain tomorrow?
투명인간이 대답했어요. "켐프 내일 설명해도 될까?"
I'm wounded, exhausted and hungry.
난 상처입었고 피곤하고 배고파.
Could I have something to drink?"
나 뭐 좀 마셔도 될까?"
Dr.Kemp poured him some whiskey and asked, "Where are you?"
켐프는 그에게 조금 위스키를 따라주고 물었어요. "너 어디있니?"

- Griffin took the glass out of his hand.
그리핀은 그의 손에서 유리컵을 빼냈어요.
"I can't believe all of this is happening," said Dr.Kemp.

"I've been outside, running around with no on and eat something."

Dr.Kemp went to his wardrobe and took out a dressing gown.

"Will this be okay?"

The invisible man took the robe and Dr.Kemp watched as it seemed to swing around in the air by itself.
투명인간이 옷을 입는 모습은 켐프가 봤을 때 그것이 스스로 공중에서 흔들리는 것 같았어요.
The doctor also got him some underwear, socks and slippers, and then went to get some food.
의사는 또한 그에게 내의,양말,그리고 슬리퍼들 그후에 조금의 음식도 가져왔어요.
He brought the food back, and watched as an invisible mouth devoured it.
그는 음식들을 뒤에서 가져와 투명한 입이 그것을 먹어치우는 모습을 지켜보았어요.

- "This is the strangest thing," he muttered.

"He shot you," the doctor questioned him again.
"그가 널 쐈어." 의사가 그에게 다시 물었어요.
"No, someone back at the inn shot me.
"아니 여관의 누군가가 뒤에서 쐈어.
But I'll explain later.
하지만 나중에 설명해줄께.
I'm exhausted."
난 지쳤어."
"Then sleep here in my room," offered the doctor.
"그럼 여기 내방에서 자." 의사가 권했어요.
"Sleep! I have to catch Marvel to get my books!
"잠! 난 마벨을 잡아 책을 회수해야해!
And the police might catch me," said the man.
그리고 경찰이 날 잡겠지." 남자가 말했어요.
"Police?" asked Kemp.
"경찰?" 켐프가 물었어요.
"I'm such an idiot! I've given you the idea to turn me in."
"난 진짜 멍청이야! 내가 너에게 내 상태를 바꿀 수 있는 아이디어를 주었잖아."
"I promise I won't.
"내가 약속하는데 난 않할거야.
I won't tell anyone that you are here.
난 누구에게도 니가 여기있다고 말할 수 없어.
Why don't you lock the door after I leave?" Dr. Kemp suggested.
내가 떠난 뒤에 문을 잠그는게 어때?" 켐프가 제안했어요.

None of this can be true," he thought to himself.

- In his office, he read the morning newspaper which described the events of the previous night.

Just as he was giving it to his housekeeper, he heard the sound of smashing furniture.

Dr. Kemp rushed upstairs and knocked on the door.

"I lost my temper," the invisible mas explained.

The invisible man seemed very agitated, so Dr.Kemp suggested,
"Why din't we have breakfast in my study?"
투명인간이 너무 흥분해 보여서, 켐프는 제안했어요.

This suggestion put Griffin in a better mood, and they went to the study.
이 제안은 그리핀의 기분을 좋게 만들었고 같이 서재로 갔어요.
Dr.Kemp nervously looked out the window and sat down across from his invisible companion.
켐프는 신경질적으로 창밖을 보고 그의 투명한 동료 맞은편에 앉았어요.

- "I'm curious to know how all of this happened to you, Griffin,"
said Dr.Kemp.

"Yes, but humans aren't transparent like glass," interrupted Kemp.

Flesh, bone, nails, hair, everything is transparent.

I did so much research for six years and wrote everything down in my three books.

That's why I have to get them back from Marvel."

"But how did you get the blood and other pigment to become invisible?"
Kemp asked.

I found a corner to rest in and when the store closed, I found some food to eat and some clothes to wear.
난 매점을 발견해 들어가 쉬고 상점이 닫혔을 땐 몇가지 먹을 음식과 입을 옷들을 발견했어.
I planned to sleep there, steal some money from the registers, and finish my disguise.
난 거기서 잘 계획을 세웠는데 레지스터에서 돈을 훔치고 분장을 마무리 하려 했지.
The problem was that I slept too well.
문제는 내가 너무 잘 잔것이었어.
I didn't wake up before the store opened and many people saw me.
난 상점이 열때까지 일어나지 못했고 많은 사람들이 날 보았지.
I jumped up and ran.
