- "Don't worry kemp. I'm an invisible man. You aren't hearing things."
"kemp야 걱정하지마. 나는 투명인간이야. 너는 어떤것을 들어줄수있지."
"What! An invisible man? So it's true what they've been saying in the village!" Dr. kemp said, reaching out his hand to touch the bandage.
"잠깐! 투명인가? 그래 이것은 마을 사람들이 한 말이 사실이였어!" Dr. kemp은 말하면서 붕대와 마주보고 그의 손은 연락을 취할려고 했다.
But the invisible man grabbed the doctor's wrist.
하지만 투명인간이 의사의 셔츠를 잡아당겼다.
Dr. kemp tried to pull away and fight, but the invisible man said, "Kemp! Stop this. You know me. I'm Jack Griffin. We went to college together."
Dr. kemp은 그를 밀어내고 싸울려고 했다. 하지만 투명인간이 말했다, "Kemp! 그것을 멈춰. 너는 나를 알아. 나는 Jack Griffin이야. 우리는 같이 교사였잔아."
Kemp now sat up and asked, "The Jack Griffin who won the college medal in chemistry?"
Kemp이 일어나서 물었다, "Jack Griffin는 화학상을 받은 교사아니니?"
"Yes."
"맞아."
"Why would you want to make yourself invisible?" asked Dr. Kemp.
"왜 너는 너스스로가 투명이 되길 원했니?" Dr. Kemp가 물었다.
"And how?"

- The invisible man replied, "Kemp, can I explain tomorrow?
투명인간은 대답하였다, "Kemp, 내가 내일 설명해도 될까??
I'm wounded, exhausted, and hungry.
나는 상처입었고 기운도 없고 배도 고파.
Could I have something to drink?"
내가 뭐좀 마셔도 돼?"
Dr. Kemp poured him some whiskey and asked, "Where are you?"
Dr. Kemp는 그에게 위스키를 따르면서 물었다, "너는 어디에 었니?"
Griffin took the glass out of his hand.
그리핀은 그의 손으로 잔을 잡았다.
"I can't belive all of this is happening," said Dr. Kemp.

- "I've been outside, running around with no clothes on.

All I want is to put some clean clothes on and eat something."

Dr. Kemp went to his wardrobe and took out a dressing gown.
Dr. Kemp는 그의 옷장에 가서 드레싱 가운을 꺼내 왔다.
"Will this be okey?"

The invisible man took the robe and Dr. Kemp watched as it seemed to swing around in the air by itself.
투명인간은 옷을 잡고 Dr. Kemp은 스스로 공중에서 흔들거리는 것처럼보이는것들을 봤다.
The doctor also got him some underwear, socks and slippers, and then went to get some food.
의사 또한 그에게 몇개의 속옷과 양말 그리고 실내화와 약간의 음식을 주었다.

- He brought the food back, and watched as an invisible mouth devoured it.
그는 음식을 가져와서 보이지 않는 입으로 그것을 먹는것을 바라보았다.
"This is the strangest thing," he muttered.
"이것은 이상한 일이야," 그가 중얼거렸다.
"What is strange is the good fortune to enter the house of a man I know for bandages for my wound," Griffin said.
"뭐가 이상해 내가 부상을 당해서 그의 집에 들어가서 붕대를 감는것은 운이 좋았다고 보는데." Griffin이 말하였다.
"How were you wounded?" asked the doctor.
"너는 어떻하다가 상처입었어?" 의사가 물었다.
"Well, there was a man who was supposed to help me, Marvel."
"음, 거기서 내가 Marvel을 도와줄려고 생각을 했는데."
"He shot you," the doctor questioned him again.
"그가 너에게 총을 쐈구나," 의사는 그에게 다시 질문하였다.
"No, but he stole my books and money."
"아니, 하지만 그는 나의 책과 돈을 훔쳤어."
"Did you shoot him? I heard some shots coming from the inn."
"너는 그를 쐈니? 나는 여관으로부터 총성이 들렸다고 들었는데."
"No, someone back at the inn shot me. But I'll explain later. I'm exhausted."
"아니, 누군가 여관 뒤에서 나를 쐈어. 하지만 나는 분명 봤어. 나는 지쳤지."
"Then sleep here in my room," offered the doctor.
"그러면 나의 방에서 잠을 자," 의사는 권하였다.
"Sleep! I have to catch Marvel to get my books! And the police might catch me," said the man.
"자라고! 나는 나의 책을 가져간 Marvel을 잡을거야! 그리고 경찰이 나를 잡을수도 있어," 남자가 말했다.
"Police?" asked Kemp.
"경찰?" Kemp이 물었다.
"I'm such an idiot! I've given you the idea to turn me in."
"내가 멍청했어! 나는 너의 생각을 바꿀려고 했어."

- "I promise I won't. I won't tell anyone that you are here. Why don't you lock the door after I leave?" Dr. Kemp suggested.

"Alright. Then I will sleep here tonight.

I'll explain my plans to you tomorrow.
내가 내일 나의 계획을 설명해 줄게.
There will be wonderful things that you and I can do together.
그곳에는 놀랄만한것들이 있는데 너와 내가 같이 갈수 있어.
I have just discovered that if I am to be invisible, I must have a partner."
만약 내가 보이지 않는다면 나는 파트너가 있어야 된다는것을 알았다.
The two men shook hands and said good-night but the invisible man warned, "You had better not think about trying to have me captured."
두명의 남자들은 악수를 하면서 잘자라고 인사를 했지만 투명인간은 경고하였다, "네가 나를 잡을려고 시도하려는 나쁜 생각은 안하는게 좋아."

- CHAPTER FOUR
A Wonderful Discovery
이상한 발견
Dr. Kemp left the room and heard the invisible man lock the door.
Dr. Kemp은 방을 나가고 나서 투명인간이 문을 잠그는 소리를 들었다.
"I must be mad. None of this can be true," he thought to himself.
"내가 미쳤지. 그것이 진실이 아니였어," 그는 그 스스로 생각하였다.
"No! It is all true."
"아니! 그것들은 전부 맞아."
He quietly walked downstairs to his office and looked for the day's newspapers.
그는 조용히 계단을 내려가 그의 사무실로 가서 일간 신문을 보았다.
He started to look for some articles.
그는 어느 기사를 읽기 시작하였다.
The first he read was named, "Strange Story from Iping."
그는 첫번째 제목을 읽었다, "Iping의 이상한 이야기."
Another was named, "Entire Village in Sussex Goes Mad."
다른 제목은, "마을 전체가 미쳤다."
He read stories of people being attacked, a doctor and a reverend being stripped of their clothes and buildings being destroyed.
그는 공격당한 사람들의 이야기와 옷이 찢어진 성직자와 의사의 관한 기사 그리고 파과되 건물에 대한 기사를 읽었다.
Dr. Kemp thought to himself, "This man is mad and dangerous. He is capable of murder."
Kemp의사는 그 스스로 생각하였다, "이 남자는 미쳤고 위험해. 그는 살인이 가능한 사람이야."
Dr. Kemp was very worried.
Kemp은 매우 걱정하였다.
He didn't sleep all night, thinking about what he should do.
그는 그에 대해서 생각하는바람에 밤새 잠을 못잤다.
In the morning, his housekeeper came, and he asked her to serve breakfast for two in his study.
아침에 그의 가정부가 왔다. 그래서 그는 그가 공부를 하고 있을때 두개의 아침을 갔다 달라고 물어보았다.
In his office, he read the morning newspaper which described the events of the previous night.
그의 사무실에서 그는 아침 신문에서 어제의 사건을 보았다.
Dr. Kemp, feeling even more concerned, sat down to write a note.
Kemp은 앉아서 노트에 쓰고 있는데 염려되었다.
He addressed it to "Colonel , Port Burdock Police."
그는 그것을 "Burdock항구 경찰서 Adye대령에게." 보냈다.

- Just as he was giving it to his housekeeper, he heard the sound of smashing furniture.

"Hurry," he whispered to his housekeeper.

Dr. Kemp rushed upstairs and knocked on the door.

"What's the matter?" ha asked the headless robe.
"무슨 문제있어?" 그는 머리가 없는 의복에게 물었다.
"I lost my temper," the invisible man explained.
"나는 기분이 상했어," 투명인간이 설명하였다.
"You seem to do that a lot. The papers are full of you. But no one knows that you are here."
"너는 그곳에 많아 보이지. 너의 종이들이 가득차있어. 하지만 네가 거기에 있다는 것은 아무도 몰라."
The invisible man seemed very agitated, so Dr. Kemp suggested, "Why don't we have breakfast in my study?"
투명인간은 매우 흥분해서 Dr. Kemp을 바라보았다, "왜 너희들은 내 연구실에 아침을 안가져오니?"
This suggestion put Griffin in a better mood, and they went to the study.
그이야기로 Griffin은 마음을 진정시켰다. 그래서 공부를 하러 갔다.
Dr. Kemp nervously looked out the window and sat down across from his invisible companion.
Dr. Kemp은 그의 투명한 동료 반대편쪽에 앉아서 창문을 신경질적으로 보았다.
"I'm curious to know how all of this happened to you, Griffin," said Dr. Kemp.

- "It was wonderful at first.

I studied a lot about light and liquids and how glass becomes almost invisible in water when light goes through it."
나는 빛과 액체와 어떻게 유리가 물속에서 거의 안보이게 되는지에 대해서 공부를 했어."
"Yes, but humans aren't transparent like glass," interrupted Kemp.
"맞아, 하지만 인간은 유리처럼 투명해질수 없어," Kemp가 말을 끊었다.

- "No, we are except for the red coloring of our blood and other matter.
"아니, 우리는 붉은색의 우리의 피와 다른 색소물질을 제외하고는 되.
Flesh, bone, nails, hair, everything is transparent.
육체, 뼈, 손톱과 발톱, 머리카락, 모든것들이 투명해질수 있어.
I did so much research for six years and wrote everything down in my three books.
나는 6년동안 많은 연구를 해서 그것들을 나의 3권의 책에 적었어.
That's why I have to get them back from Marvel."
나는 그것들을 Marvel로 부터 되돌려 받을거야."
"But how did you get the blood and other pigment to become invisible?" Kemp asked.
"하지만 너는 어떻게 피와 투명해지는 색소를 얻을거야?" Kemp이 물었다.
"It took me three more years to do that.

but I never had any money, so I stole it from my father.

But then he shot himself because he actually owed the money I stole to someone else.

When she finally came to, all I could see was the green pigment at the back of her eyes.
그 고양이가 투명해졌을때 나는 고양이의 두눈 뒤에서 초록색 물감을 볼수있었다.
The last time I saw her, she was just two green eyes jumping out one of my windows.
지난번에 내가 고양이보았을때, 고양이는 두개의 초록눈으로 나의 창문으로 점프에서 나갈수도았었다.
"After successfully making the cat invisible, I knew there was the possibility of making a human invisible.
"고양이를 투명하게 만드는것을 성공한후에 나는 인간을 투명하게 만들수있는 가능성이 있다는것을 알았어.
I worked hard, and I had to do it quickly.
나는 열심히 일을 해서 나는 그것을 빠르게 가졌지.
I owed my landlord a lot of money in rent.
나는 나의 집주인에게 많은 돈을 집세로 빚지고있어.
I knew it would be perfect for me to become invisible and just disappear.

After coming back from the post office, I mixed some of the drugs for myself and drank it.

While I waited for it to take effect, there was a knock at my door.
잠시뒤 나는 효과를 기다리고 있는데 문이 두드리는 소리가 났다.
I was feeling very sick at this time and when I opened my door, my landlord looked at me, screamed and ran away.
나는 그 시간동안 매우 아파해서 나의 문을 열었는데 나의 집주인이 나를 보아서 나는 소리치면서 뛰쳐나갔다.
I looked at myself in the mirror and I was as white as a sheet.
나는 자기 스스로를 거울로 보았는데 흰색 시트만 있었다.
I cannot describe the pain I felt over the next ten or twelve hours.

By morning, I slowly became invisible.

I was looking at myself in the mirror, not seeing anything of course when there was a loud bang at my door.

It was the landlord.

He shouted for me to open the door.

I didn't want them to see my chemicals and equipment, so I burned the place down and escaped through the window.

- "I decided to head for the place I had sent my books.

It was fun at first being invisible, but it also had plenty of problems.

Dogs couldn't see me, but they could certainly smell me.

Where there were puddles of water or mud that I walked through, boys would cry out, 'Look! There are foorprints but nothing is making them.'

A crowd of people formed behind me which I had to try ro escape from by finding some completely dry ground.

Eventually, I was able to lose my crowd of pursuers."

On hearing the word "pursuers", Kemp felt a little uncomfortable.

He glanced nervously through the window.

The invisible man continued on with his story.

- "That day, I knew I had to find shelter quickly.

I hurried in.
나는 매우 급하게 안으로 들어갔어.
I found a corner to rest in and when the store closed, I found some food to eat and some clothes to wear.
나는 모퉁이를 찾아서 그 안에서 휴식을 취하고 있을때 가게가 문을 닫았다, 나는 약간의 음식을 찾아서 먹었고 조금의 옷을 입었다.
I planned to sleep there, steal some money from the registers, and finish my disguise.
나는 그곳에서 잘 계획이였다. 기록부에서 소량의 돈을 훔쳤고 나의 변장도 끝마쳤다.
The problem was that I slept too well.
문제는 내가 너무 많이 잔거였다.
I didn't wake up before the store opened and many people saw me.

I managed to escape just at the police arrived.

Without any clothes on, people would be able to see the food in my stomach," the invisible man continued.
