    - Robinson Crusoe
    All of the visitors escaped, but they left two canoes behind.
    모든 방문자는 도망쳤다, 하지만 그들은 2개의 카투뒤에 있었다.
    Crusoe looked inside one of them and gasped.
    크루소는 그것들에 안쪽을 보고 숨이막혔다.
    An old man was lying in the bottom of the boat, tied up.
    늙은 남자가 보트 밑바닥에 묶여서 누워있었다.
    Crusoe helped the old man out of the boat.
    크루소는 늙은 남자를 보트 밖으로 꺼내주었다.
    As he untied him, Friday shouted with joy.
    그는 그를 묶지않았고, 프라이데이는 기뻐하며 소리쳤다.
    "It's my father!" he cried.
    "나의 아버지야!" 그는 소리쳤다.
    He rushed up to the old man and hugged him.
    그는 달려가 늙은 남자를 껴안았다.
    Friday and Crusoe took the captives home.
    프라이데이와 크루소는 노예를 집으로 데리고 왔다.
    They gave them a good meal and let them rest.
    그들은 좋은 식사와 휴식을 주었다.
    Later, the sailor told Crusoe that his friends were still on the mainland.
    선원이 크루소에게 그의 친구는 아직도 대륙에 있다고 말했다.
    Crusoe gave the sailor food and weapons and the man left, agreeing to take Friday's father home.
    크루소는 선원에게 음식과 무기를 주었고 프라이데이의 아버지를 집으로 데려다주는것을 남자는 동의하고 남겨졌다.

    Chapter 8

    Escape at last?

    Only a week later, Crusoe saw a ship moored close to the island... and English ship!
    단지 1주일 후에, 크루소는 섬에 배가 접근하는 것을 보았다... 그리고 영국의 배다!

    He could hardly believe it, another ship after so long.

    A small boat was coming ashore, full of sailors.

    Friday and Crusoe went down to the beach to see what was going on.

    The prisoners stared at Crusoe.
    포로들은 크루소를 보았다.
    Then one of them spoke.
    그들은 말하였다.
    "I'm the captain of that ship," he said.
    "나는 배에 선장이야," 그는 말하였다.
    "My sailors mutinied."
    "나의 선원들이 반란을 일으켰어."
    "That's terrible!" said Crusoe.
    "무섭구나!" 크루소는 말했다.
    Then he smiled.
    그는 미소지었다.
    He'd had an idea.
    그는 아이디어를 가지고 있었다.

    "Well, we'll help you to escape..." he began. "...if you promise to take us to England."

    The captain nodded.
    선장은 끄덕였다.
    "Of course," he agreed eagerly.
    "물론이지," 그는 간절히 약속했다.
    When the sailors came back from exploring the island, they had a shock.
    선원들은 섬을 탐사하고 돌아왔고, 그들은 충격을 받았다.
    Crusoe, Friday and the prisoners jumped out from behind some bushes and seized them.
    크루소, 프라이데이 그리고 포로는 뒤로부터 바깥에있는 덤불로 뛰었고 그들을 잡았다.
    They stood no chance.
    그들은 일어설 기회도 없었다.
    "We'll spare your lives if you help us," said Crusoe.
    "만역 당신들이 우리를 도왔다면 당신들은 살았을꺼야," 크루소가 말했다.
    The sailors agreed.
    선원들은 동의하였다.
    They didn't have much choice.
    그들은 많은 선택을 할 수 없었다.

    Later that night, the captain rowed out to the ship with the few men he could trust.
    늦은 밤, 그가 신뢰를 할 수 있는 몇명의 남자들과 함께 배를 저었다.
    They crept aboard very quietly... and opened fire.
    그들은 베에 조용히 기어갔다... 그리고 발포했다.
    The rebels were taken by surprise.
    반역자한테 불의의 습격을 했다.
    "Stop! We surrender!" they cried.
    "멈춰! 우리는 항복했어!" 그들은 소리쳤다.
    The next day, the captain rowed back to shore.
    다음 날, 선장은 바닷가로 돌아가려고 노를 저었다.
    "Come aboard!" he told Crusoe.
    "배에 와!" 그는 크루소에게 말했다.
    "We leave for England today!"
    "우리는 오늘 영국으로 떠나!"
    On board the ship, Crusoe put on his first English clothes for many years.
    배 판자위에, 크루소는 그의 첫번째 영국옷을 놓았다.
    Friday laughed when he saw them.
    프라이데이는 그를 보고 웃었다.
    Friday had decided to sail for England too.

    Crusoe took one last look at the island that had been his home for thirty-five years.

    Then the sailors hauled in the anchor and the ship set sail.

    Green Gables

    Matthew Cuthbert was on old man, almost sixty years old.
    매튜 커스버트는 나이가 많은 남자이다, 거의 60살정도 이다.
    He and his sister, Marilla, lived at Green Gables.
    그는 그의 여동생인 마릴라는 녹색 박공에 산다.
    It was a small farm near the town of Avonlea.
    작은 농장 가까이에는 애번리 마을이 있다.
    On this day, Matthew was wearing his best clothes.
    오늘 날, 매튜는 그의 최고의 옷을 입었다.
    He was excited.
    그는 흥분했다.
    It was a special day.
    오늘은 특별한 날이다.
    He drove to the train station in Avonlea.
    그는 애번리에 있는 기차역에 갔다.
    "Has the five-thirty train arrived yet?"
    "5시 30분 기차가 벌써 도착했나요?"
    Matthew asked the stationmaster.
    매튜 역장에게 물었다.
    "Yes, it has," replied the stationmaster.

    "And a little girl is waiting for you now, over there."
    "그리고 작은 소녀는 지금 너를 만나기 위해 기다렸어."
    Matthew was shocked.

    Matthew and Marilla had decided to adopt a boy from an orphanage.

    Matthew wanted someone to help him on the farm.
    매튜는 그에게 농장에 일을 하는 것을 원한다,
    Matthew saw a thin girl with red hair.
    매튜는 빨간 머리 소녀를 보았다.
    She saw Matthew looking at her, and ran to him.
    그녀는 매슈를 보고 그에게 달려갔다.
    "Are you Mr.Cuthbert of Green Gables?"
    "당신은 녹생 박공에 있는 커스버트씨?"
    Before Matthew could reply, she continued talking.
    매튜가 대답하기 전에 그녀가 계속해서 말을 했다.
    "I'm very excited to meet you," she said.
    "나는 당신을 만나서 매우 흥분되요," 그녀가 말했다.
    "I was really happy to hear that you wanted to adopt me."

    Matthew didn't know what to say.

    He felt sorry for the little girl.
    그는 어린 소녀에게 미안하다는 느낌이 들었다.
    Matthew decided to take the girl home.
    매튜는 소녀를 집으로 데리고 오기로 결심했다.
    "Marilla could tell her it was a mistake," he thought.
    "마릴라는 그녀에게 잘못됫다고 말할 것이다," 그는 생각했다.
    However, Matthew enjoyed listening to her on the way back home.
    하지만, 매튜 집으로 돌아가는 길에 그녀에 말을 듣는 것을 즐겼다.

    Matthew didn't have to say anything.

    "I've always been poor, so I don't have any nice dresses.

    Then I'm happy!

    Do you imagine things sometimes?"

    "Well, I...I... not often," replied Matthew.
    "글쎄, 나는... 나는... 자주 생각하지 않았어," 매튜가 대답했다.
    "I'm not talking too much, am I?
    "난 많이 말을 안했어, 그치?
    Please tell me if it bothers you."
    그것이 너를 신경쓰이게 한다면 말해줘."
    Matthew smiled at her and said, "You can go on talking.
    매튜는 그 여자에게 미소를 짓고 말했다, "너는 말을 하게 될거야.
    I like listening to you."
    나는 너의 말을 듣는것을 좋아해."
    When they arrived at Green Gables, Marilla came to the door to greet them.
    그들은 녹색 박공에 도착을 했고, 마릴라는 문을 열고 그들에게 인사했다.

    She was smiling and her arms were open.
    그녀는 그 여자를 두팔벌리며 미소지었다.
    But when she saw the little girl, she suddenly stopped.
    하지만 그녀는 어린 소녀를 보았고, 그녀는 갑자기 멈추었다.
    "Matthew, who's this?" asked Marilla.
    "매튜, 누구야?" 마릴라가 물었다.
    "Where's the boy?"
    "소년은 어디있어?"
    Matthew sighed.
    매튜는 한숨을 쉬었다.
    "The orphanage made a mistake.
    "고아가 실수했어.
    They sent a girl instead of boy."
    그들은 소년 대신에 소녀를 보냈어."
    The child was listening carefully.
    아이는 주의 깊게 들었다.
    Suddenly she started to cry.
    갑자기 소녀는 울기 시작했다.
    "Oh, you don't want me!" she cried.
    "오, 당신은 날 원하지않아!" 그녀가 소리쳤다.
    "Now you'll send me back!"
    "지금 당신은 나를 되돌려 보낼거야!"
    "Oh, now, now," said Marilla as she put an arm on the girl's shoulders.
    "오, 지금, 지금," 마릴라는 소녀의 어깨위에 손을 놓고 말했다.
    "Don't cry."
    "울지마."
    "Oh, this is just the worst thing in my life!" the girl cried out.
    "내 삶에서 최악에 것이야" 소녀는 밖에다 소리쳤다.
    Marilla felt sorry for the girl.
    마릴라는 소녀에게 미안하다고 느꼈다.
    "Well, you can stay here just for tonight," she said.
    "너는 오늘밤 여기에서 머물수 있어," 그녀는 말했다.
    "Now, what's your name?"
    "지금, 너의 이름이 뭐니?"
    The girl stopped crying.
    소녀는 우는것을 멈추었다.
    "Would you please call me 'Cordelia?" she asked.
    "너는 제발 나를 코딜리어라고 부를거야?" 그녀가 물었다.
    Is that your name?"
    그게 너의 이름이니?"
    "No, it isn't, but it's a very beautiful name, don't you think?" said the girl.
    "아니야, 하지만 그것은 아름다운 이름이야, 너는 그렇게 생각히지 않아?" 소녀가 말했다.
    "I like to imagine that my name is Cordelia, because my real name, Anne Shirley, is not very nice.
    "나는 나의 이름이 코딜리어라고 상상해, 왜냐하면 나의 진짜 이름은 앤 셜리인데 매우 좋지 않아.
    Marilla shook her head.
    마릴라는 그 여자의 머리를 흔들었다.
    "This girl has too much imagination," she thought.
    "소녀는 많은 상상력을 가지고있다," 그녀는 생각했다.

    When the girl was in bed, Marilla spoke to Matthew.
    소녀는 침대에 갔고, 마릴라와 매튜는 이야기했다.
    "She must go back to the orphanage tomorrow."
    "그녀는 내일 고아원으로 되돌려 보내야 할 필요가 있어."
    Matthew coughed a little.
    매튜는 조금 기침을 했다.
    "Marilla, don't you think..." he stopped.
    "마릴라, 너의 생각은 좋지않아..." 그는 멈추었다.
    "She's a nice little thing, you know."
    "너도 알다시피 그녀는 멋진 작은것이야."
    "Matthew cuthbert!" said Marilla.
    "매튜 커스버트!" 마릴라가 말했다.
    She only called him by their last name when she was angry.
    그녀는 화가나면 그의 마지막 이름을 부른다.
    "Are you telling me that you want to keep her?"
    "너는 그녀를 지키고 싶다고 말했었잖아.
    Matthew was uncomfortable, and a little nervous.
    매튜는 불쾌했고 조금 신경질적이였다.
    "Well, she's clever, and interesting, and..."
    "그녀는 영리해 그리고 흥미있어, 그리고..."
    "But we don't need a girl!" said Marilla.
    "하지만 소녀는 필요없어!" 마릴라가 말했다.
    "She'll be hard to take care of, and not much help to us."
    "그녀는 돌보기 어렵고, 우리에게 도움도 안돼."
    "Perhaps she needs us," Matthew replied.
    "어쩌면 그녀는 우리에게 필요해," 매튜는 대답했다.
    "Look, Marilla, she's had an unhappy life.
    "봐, 마릴라, 그녀는 불행한 생먕을 가졌어.
    She can help you in the house.
    그녀는 집안일을 도와줄거야.
    I can get a boy from the village to help me on the farm.
    소년이면 마을에 있는 너의 농장을 도와줬을거야.
    What do you think?"
    너는 무엇이라고 생각해?"

    Marilla thought for a long time.
    마릴라는 긴 시간동안 생각했다.
    She did feel sorry for the girl.
    그녀는 소녀에게 미안하다는 느낌이 들었다.
    Finally, she said, "All right.
    마침내, 그녀는 말했다, "그래.
    I agree.
    나는 동의해.
    The poor child can stay.
    가난한 아이들은 머무를 거야.
    "I'll look after her."
    "그여자를 돌볼거야."
    Matthew smiled.
    매튜는 미소지었다.
    "Be kind to her, Marilla.
    "그여자는 착해, 마릴라.
    I think she needs a lot of love.
    나는 반드시 그녀를 많이 사랑한다고 생각할거야.

    CHAPTER TWO

    I Love It Here.

    The next morning at breakfast, Marilla said, "Well, Anne, we have decided to adopt you.
    다음날 아침, 마릴라는 말했다, "음, 앤, 우리는 너를 양자로 삼기로 결정했어.
    Anne started cry
    앤은 울기 시작했다.
    "Why, child, what's the matter?" asked Marilla.
    "왜, 아이야, 무엇이 문제야?" 마릴라가 물었다.
    "I'm crying," said Anne, "because I'm so happy!
    "나는 울어요,"앤이 말했다, "왜냐하면 난 매우 행복해요!
    I love it here! Oh, thank you, thank you!"
    나는 여기를 사랑해요! 오, 고마워요, 고마워요!"
    "Now stop crying, child," said Marilla.
    "지금 우는 것을 멈춰, 아이야," 마릴라가 말했다.
    She was a bit upset because Anne was crying.
    그녀는 앤이 울어서 속상해했다.
    Anne stopped crying, and said, "Can I call you Aunt Mariila?
    앤은 우는 것을 멈추고 말하였다, "나는 말릴라 아줌머니라고 불러요?
    I've never had any family at all, so I'd really like to have a nice and kind aunt.
    나는 가족이 모두 있지않아, 정말 아줌머니는 정말 친절해서 좋아요.
    Marilla was surprised.
    마릴라는 놀랐다.
    "I couldn't do that," answered Marilla firmly.
    "그것을 할 수없다, 마릴라가 단호하게 대답했다.
    Now Anne was surprised.
    지금은 앤이 놀랐다.

    "I do the housework and look after Matthew.
    "나는 집안일을 하고 매튜를 살필게.
    There's no time in this house to imagine things."
    그것들을 상상하는 것은 이집에서 상상할 수 없었다.
    Anne was quiet for a short time.
    앤은 짧은 시간동안 조용히 있었다.
    Then she said, "Marilla, do you think I'll find a best friend here?
    그때 그녀가 말했다, "마릴라, 너의 가장 좋은 친구가 여기 있다고 생각해?
    I've always wanted to have a friend."
    나는 항상 친구를 원했어."
    Marilla said, "Our friends, the Barrys have a daughter, Diana.
    말릴가 말했다, "우리의 친구인 바리 가족이 딸인 다이애나를 얻었다.
    She is eleven like you.
    그녀는 너 처럼 11살이야.
    "Diana! What a beautiful name!" said Anne.
    "다이애나! 이름이 아름답다!" 앤이 말했다.
    "Her hair isn't red, it?
    "그 여자의 머리카락이 빨간색이야?
    I hope it isn't.
    나는 그것에 희망을 가졌다.
    I hate my hair.
    나는 나의 머리카락을 싫어한다.
    Red is so ugly."
    빨간색은 매우 추해."
    "Diana has dark hair," said Marilla.
    "다이애나의 머리카락은 검정색이야," 마릴라가 말했다.
    When Anne met Diana, the two girls knew that they would be best friends.
    앤과 다이애나가 만나서 두 소녀를 알게 되고 그들을 최고에 친구로 될것이다.
    In the morning, Anne helped Marilla aroud the house.
    아침에 앤은 집주위에서 마릴라를 도왔다.
