- This was the time of the Gold Rush in the Yukon.
유콘에 있는 금광지로 가는 시간이었다.
White men came from all over North America to look for gold.
에스키모는 금을 볼수있는 북아메리카에서 왔다.
They came by boat on the Hudson River as far as Fort Yukon.
그들은 보트를 타고 후드손강을 지나 머나먼 유콘의 주둔지로 왔다.
They left their boats there and continued on foot with their dogs to the gold fields.
그들은 그들의 보트를 타고 그곳을 떠났고, 개들과 함께 금광지를 밟았다.
Gray Beaver had many things to sell to them.
회색비버가 그들에게 팔수있는 많은것들을 가지고 있었다.
He had furs, shoes, and clothing made of animal skins.
그는 솜,신발,그리고 동물의 가죽으로 만든 옷을 가지고 있었다.
He stayed at Fort Yukon for many days and became rich from selling things to the men who were looking for gold.
그는 오랫동안 유콘주둔지에 머물러 있었고. 금을 찾아서 부자가 되었다.

One white man had a gun.

He shot and killed six of gray Beaver's dogs.
그는 회색비버의 개들을 총으로 쏴서 6마리 죽였다.
He did not kill White Fang however.
그는 늑대개를 죽이지않았다.
White Fang was clever enough to keep out of his way.

White Fang knew that somehow white men were different from the Native Americans.

He knew that they could do things that the men in his tribe could not do.

- The White men quickly learned that White Fang was not like the other dogs.
늑대개가 다른 개들을 싫어한다는것을 그 에스키모는 빠르게 배웠다.
They could see that there was wolf in him.
그들은 그들 사이에서 늑대개가 있는것을 볼수 있었다.
They did not try to touch him the way they touched and stroked thier own dogs.
그들은 그와 엮이지 않으려고 노력했고 그들의 개들을 툭툭 쳤다.
No one had ever loved White Fang.
아무도 늑대개를 사랑하지 않았다.
He obeyed Gray beaver because Gray beaver was a god to him, not because he liked him.
그는 회색비버의 말에 순종했다 왜냐하면 회색비버는 그에게는 신이고. 그는 그를 좋아한다.
White Fang had no friends among the other dogs.

They liked to watch the Native American's dogs, especially White Fang, attack and kill the newcomers' dogs.

They thought this was a fun sport.
그들은 이런 행동들이 재미있는 스포츠라고 생각했다.
One of these men was called Beauty.
한 명의 남자가 뷰티라고 불렸다.
The other men called him beauty because he was a very ugly and a very bad man.
다른 남자는 뷰티라고 불렸다 . 왜냐하면 그는 매우 못생겼고 이기적이기 때문이다.
He liked to watch White Fang kill smaller, weaker dogs.
그는 늑대개가 작고 약한 개들을 죽이는모습을 보는것을 좋아했다.
Beauty had a small head on a big body, and he was weak and dirty.
뷰티는 작은 머리와 큰 몸을 가지고 있고 그는 약하고 더럽다.

- -Feeding the Five Thousand
One day, Jesus heard that John the Baptist had died.
어느날, 예수님은 교도인 요한이 죽어가는것을 들었다.
He went to a quiet place by a lake to be alone.
그는 조용히 호숫가가 있는 장소로 왔다.
However, people found out where Jesus was.
하지만 사람들은 예수님이 어디에있는지 찾지못했다.
Sick people wanted to be cured.
아픈사람들은 치료되기를 바랬고,
Others wanted to hear Jesus speak.
다른사람들은 예수님의 말씀을 듣기를 원했다.
Jesus felt pity for these people.
예수님은 이 사람들을 불쌍히 여기셨다.
so he put his sadness aside.
그래서 그는 그의 슬픔을 버리셨다.
He cured them, and he spoke to them until evening.
그는 그들을 치료하고 그는 저녁이 될때까지 그들에게 말했다.
The apostles told Jesus "It is getting dark.
그 제자가 예수님에게 말했다. 곧 어두워 질거에요.
We do not have enough food to feed all these people.
우리에게는 이 사람들을 먹일 음식이 충분하지않아요.
Many of them are hungry.
많은 이들이 배가 고픕니다.
Jesus told them,

"We will share with them what we have."

The apostles protested,

But Master, we only have five loaves of bread two fish!

There are at least five thousand men, women and children gathered here.
여기에는 여자와 아이들을 포함해 5천명이 모여있다.
How can we feed all of them with so little food?
어떻게 우리가 매우 적은 음식들로 그들을 먹일수 있을까?
"Bring the food to me, said Jesus.
나에게 음식을 가져와라. 예수님이 말했다.
He blessed the food and then told the apostles to give it away
그는 음식에게 축복을 내렸고 제자들에게 음식을 나눠주라고 했다.
The apostles gave the food to some of the people and then came back to Jesus.
그 제자들은 몇몇의 사람들에게 음식을 주고 예수님에게 돌아왔다.
To their surprise, there was more bread and fish in the basket!.
그들에게 놀라운일이 일어났다. 바구니안에 물고기와 빵이 더 많아진것이다!
The apostles filled their arms and went into the crowed again.
그 제자들은 그들의 팔로 채워졌다 그리고 5천명의 사람들에게 계속해서 갔다.
All five thousand people had enough to eat.
5천명의 사람들이 배부르게 먹었다.
When they were all full. the apostles returned once more to Jesus with the food that was left over.
그들 모두가 배불리 먹었을때, 그 제자는 예수님에게 돌아가 음식을 다 나누어주었다고 말했다.
Then Jesus told his apostles to go to the other side of the lake without him.
그때 예수님은 그의 제자들에게 호숫가로 가라고 말했다.
Jesus went to the top of a hill to pray for the death of John the Baptist.
예수님은 죽은 침례교도인 요한을 위해 언덕 꼭대기로 가서 기도했다.

- Jesus Cures the sick
예수님이 병을 치료하심.
Jesus went from village to town, telling the people how God wanted them to live.
예수님이 마을에 갔을때, 사람들에게 하느님이 원하시는 사람들의 삶이 무엇인지 말헸다.
Many people were impressed by Jesus' words.
많은 사람들이 예수님의 말을 듣고 감동을 받았다.
Among them, Jesus chose twelve young men.
그들 사이에 예수님의 12 제자들이 있었다.
They decided to give up their daily work and follow Jesus.
그들은 그들이 매일 하던 일을 포기하고 예수님을 따르기로 결심했다.
They called themselves the "apostles."
그들은 그들스스로 "전도자" 라고 불렀다.
These twelve men lived with Jesus, ate with him, and helped him teach the people.
이 12명의 사람들은 예수님과 같이 살고 먹고 가르치며 살았다.

- One sunday Jesus and the apostles went for supper to the house of Simon Peter's mother in law.
어느날, 예수님과 그 제자들이 저녁식사를 하기위헤 시몬피더의 엄마의 집으로 갔다.
When they arrived, the old woman was sick in bed with a fever.
그들이 도착했을때, 그 나이든 여자는 열이 나서 침대에 누워있었다.
Jesus took her hand and held it for a moment.
예수님이 그녀의 손을 잡고 잠시동안 있었다.
Then the woman got up out of bed.
그때 그 여지가 침대에서 일어났다.
Her fever was gone!

Smiling she went to fix dinner for the men.

By that evening,the story of the miracle had spread around the town.
저녁이 되었을때, 기적이 일어났다는 이야기가 마을에 퍼졌다.
Many sick people wanted to meet Jesus.
많은 아픈사람들이 예수님을 만나기를 원했다.
They hoped jesus could make them well again.
그들은 예수님이 그들을 치료 해주기를 원했다.
A large crowd of people gathered around the house.
큰 무리의 사람들이 그 집 주변으로 모였다.
Jesus went outside.
예수님이 밖으로 나갔다.
He put his hands on the sick people and cured them.
그는 아픈사람들의 손을잡고 그들을 치료했다.
Their colds disappeared, and their headaches went away.
그들의 병이 사라졌고, 두통도 사라졌다.
Jesus continued his travels the next morning.
예수님은 다음날 그의 여행을 계속했다.
The Crucifixion
-십자가에 못박히다.
Pilate ordered his soldiers to crucify Jesus.
빌라도가 그의 군인에게 예수님을 십자가에 못박으라고 명령했다.
The soldires stripped most of his clothes off and beat him.
그 군인은 옷의 일부를 벗기고 그를 세게 때렸다.
They made fun of him, calling him the King of the jews.
그들은 그를 재미있게 만들었고, 그를 보석의 왕이라고 불렀다.

- The Trial of Jesus
예수님의 재판
Just outside Jerusalem, there was a garden called Gethsemane.
예루살렘을 나갔을뿐인데, 그곳에는 겟세마네 라고 불리는 정원이 있었다.
After their last supper, Jesus and the apostles went there.
그들의 마지막 저녁식사후에, 예수님과 제자들은 그곳에 갔다.
Jesus walked a few steps further into the garden.
예수님은 정원보다 더멀리 걸어갔다.
Then he fell to the ground and prayed.
그때 그는 땅에서 떨어지며 기도를 했다.
"Dear Father", said Jesus.
"아버지에게" 예수님이 말했다.
"I know it must be done as your want, not as i want,"
나는 당신이 원하는것이 해결되야 한다는것을 알아요.
Jesus prayed so hard that sweat rolled down his face.
예수님은 땀을 흘리며 열심히 기도 했다.
Soon after, a large crowd of angry people came down the path.
곧, 화난 사람들이 무리지어 길로 내려왔다.
There were several Roman soldiers in the crowd.
로마군인속에 그 사람들이 있었다.
The Roman soldiers grabbed Jesus.
그 로마군인들이 예수님을 붙잡았다.
The rest of the apostles were afraid.
쉬고 있던 제자들이 두려워 했다.
Peter followed the crowd and Jesus back into Jerusalem.
피터는 무리속에서 예수님의 뒤를 따라 예루살렘으로 갔다.
In the morning, the soldiers took Jesus to Pontius Pilate, the Roman governor.
아침에 그 군인들은 식민지 총 지배자인 본디오빌라도 에게 예수님을 데려다 놓았다.
