- As soon as they were all safely across the ditch, they continued their journey.
곧 그들은 안전하게 도랑을 건너고, 여행을 계속했다.
"We're now in the land of the Kalidahs," the Lion told Dorothy.
"우리는 지금 Kalidahs에 온 거야." 사자가 Dorothy에게 말했다.

- "They are huge beasts with bodies like bears and heads like tigers. I'm afraid of them."
"그곳에는 몸은 곰이고 머리는 호랑이인 큰 괴물이 있어. 난 그들이 무서워."
"I'm not surprised," Dorothy siad.
"나는 별로 안 놀라워," Dorothy가 말했다.
"I'm sure we all are, especially little Toto."
"우리는 괜찮은 거고, 특히 작은 토토도."
And now in front of them another ditch.
그리고 지금은 그들 앞에 다른 도랑이 보였다.
"I can't jump across that," the Lion said.
"나는 저곳을 뛰어서 못건너," 사자가 말했다.
"It's much too wide."
"이건 너무 넓어."
"I can make a bredge," the Tin Woodman said.
"내가 다리를 만들 수 있어," 양철나무꾼이 말했다.
There was a tall tree nearby, and the Tin Woodman began to chop it down with his axe.
그들 가까이 큰 나무가 있었고, 양철 나무꾼은 그 나무를 도끼로 자르기 시작했다.
As he chopped, they heard a noise coming from th forest.
그가 자르고 있는 동안, 그들은 숲 속에서 나는 소리를 들었다.
"It's the kalidahs," the Lion exclaimed.
"Kalidahs야," 사자가 소리쳤다.
"Hurry, Tin Woodman! Hurry, before they come and eat us."
"빨리, 양철나무꾼! 조금만 더 빨리해, 그것들이 와서 잡아먹기 전에."
The Tin Woodman chopped a shard as he could, and suddenly the tree fell across the ditch.
양철 나무꾼은 그가 할 수 있을 만큼 열심히 나무를 잘랐고, 갑자기 나무가 도랑으로 쓰러졌다.
The travelers ran across it just in time.
그들은 뛰어서 그곳을 건넜다.

- The Kalidahs were about to cross the bridge, so the Tin Woodman began chopping again.
Kalidahs가 다리를 건너려고 하니까, 양철나무꾼이 나무를 자르기 시작했다.
Soon, the tree fell away from the side of the ditch.
곧, 나무는 도랑으로 빠졌다.
"We're safe from the Kalidahs," Dorothy said, "but I wonder what the next danger will be."
"우리는 Kalidahs로 부터 안전해," Dorothy가 말했다. "하지만 그 다음에 우리에게 어떤 위험이 닥칠지 궁금해."
Dorothy and her friend were anxious to get out of the forest as soon as they could, so they hurried along the yellow brick road.
Dorothy와 그녀의 친구들은 걱정스러운 마음으로 숲을 빠져나와서 노란 벽돌 길을 따라갔다.
It was not long before they came to a wide river.
얼마 지나지 않아 그들은 넓은 강을 만났다.
"What can we do now?" Dorothy exclaimed.
"우리는 지금 무얼 할 수 있지?" Dorothy가 소리쳤다.
"There isn't tree tall enough to fall across this river."
"여기에는 강 너머로 넘어뜨릴 나무가 충분하지 않아."
"There's no problem," the Scarecrow said.
"문제 없어." 허수아비가 말했다.

- "Tin Woodmand will use his axe to build a raft."
"양철 나무꾼이 그의 도끼로 뗏목을 만드는 거야."
And this is what the Tin Woodman did.
그리고 양철 나무꾼이 뗏목을 만들었다.
And while he was busy making the raft, Dorothy found some wild fruit and nuts, which she ate hungrily.
그리고 양철나무꾼이 뗏목을 만드는 동안 Dorothy는 그녀가 배고파 지면 먹을 야생 과일과 견과류를 모았다.

- Then, because it was talking the tin Woodman a long time to finish the raft, Dorothy lay down and went to sleep.
왜냐하면 양철나무꾼이 뗏목을 만들 이야기를 하는 것이 긴 시간이 이었기 때문이고, Doroty는 잠들었다.
The night passed without any problems, and the next morning the raft was ready.
아무 문제 없이 밤이 지나가고 아침에 뗏목은 출발할 준비가 되어 있었다.
Dorothy sat in the middle with Toto.
Dorothy는 토토와 안쪽에 앉았다.
The Lion stoood at one end and nearly sank it because he was so big and heavy.
사자는 크고 무겁기 때문에 가라앉지 않게 하기 위해서 끝쪽에서 안으로 붙어 섰다.

- The Scarecrow and the Tin Woodman stood at the other end.
허수아비와 양철나무꾼은 다른 쪽에 섰다.
They both had long poles that they use to push the raft through the water.
그들이 물을 통과하여 가려면 두개의 긴 막대기가 필요했다.
At first all went well, but then the river became so deep that the poles could not touch the bottom.
처음에는 다 좋았짐나, 강이 깊어지면서 막대기가 강 바닥에 닿지를 않았다.
The Tin Woodman said, "If we cannot stay near the land and the yellow brick load, the Wicked Witch of the West will use her magic and put a spell on us."
양철나무꾼이 말했다."우리가 땅 근처에 닿지 못하거나 노란 길을 찾지 못한다면 이건 서쪽의 나쁜 마녀가 우리에게 마법을 걸어놨기 때문일거야."

- "And then we won't meet the Wizard, and I won't get any brains," the Scarecrow said.
"그리고 우리는 마법사를 만나지 못하고 나는 뇌를 얻지 못할 거야." 허수아비가 말했다.
"And I won't get a heart," the Tin Woodman said.
"그리고 나는 심장을 얻지 못할 거야." 양철나무꾼이 말했다.
"And I won't get any courage," the Lion said.

"And i'll never get home to Kanasas," Dorothy said.
"그리고 나는 절대 Kanasas로 가지 못할거야." Dorothy가 말했다.
"We must do somthing."
"우리는 뭔가를 해야해."

- The Scarecrow was able to push the raft to the river bank.
허수아비는 뗏목을 강둑으로 밀었다.
Dorothy,Toto, the Lion and the Tin Woodman got off.
Dorothy와 토토와 사자와 양철 나무꾼은 나와 있었다.
Before the Scarecrow could get off, however, the raft moved away from the river bank and carried the Scarecrow down the river.
뗏목을 강둑에 놓고,갑자기 뗏목이 움직여서 허수아비를 강 아래쪽으로 보냈다.
Dorothy said, "Perhaps we'll meet the raft further down the river. The important thing now is to get back to the yellow brick road and continue on our way to the City of Emeralds."
Dorothy가 말했다."아마 우리가 뗏목을 가지고 강 아래쪽으로 만나러 갈거야. 중요한 것은 우리가 노란 길로 다시 돌아가는 것이고 에메랄드시로 가는 여행을 계속 하는 거야."
The Lion and the Tin Woodman agreed, and they set off along the river bank.
사자와 양철나무꾼은 그녀의 말에 동의했고, 그들은 강둑에서 출발했다.
It was not long before they saw the Scarecrow.
허수아비를 다시 보는것은 오래걸리지 않았다.
He was holding on the pole in the middle of the river.
그는 막대기를 쥐고 강 가운데에 있었다.
There was no sign of the raft.
뗏목에는 신호가 없었다.
"How can we save him?" Dorothy asked.
"어떻게 그를 구하지?" Dorothy가 말했다.
The lion and the tin Woodman shook their heads.
사자와 양철나무꾼은 고개를 저었다.
Then a stork flew up and said, "Who are you, and where are you going?"
그때 황새가 날아오르더니 말했다, "너는 누구고, 어딜가니?"
Dorothy introduced herfelf and her friends and then said, "Our friend Scarcrow, is stuck on that pole in the middle of the river, and we don't know how to rescue him. Can you help?"
Dorothy가 자기소개를 하고 그녀의 친구들을 소개해준 다음 말했다,"우리의 친구,허수아비가 강 가운데서 막대시를 잡고 있어요, 그리고 우리는 그를 구할 방법을 모르겠어요. 우리를 도와줄 수 있나요?"

- "He's much yoo heavy for me to lift and carry," Stork said, "even though I am a big bird."

"Oh, he's not heavy at all," Dorothy said.
