- The Hare and the Tortoise
토끼와 거북이
One day a hare was making fun of a tortoise for being so slow.
어느날 토끼가 느린거북이를 놀렸습니다.
"You think Iam slow?"
"너가 생각하기에 내가 느리니?"
said the tortoise.
거북이가 말하였다.

- "Let's run a race, and I bet thet I will win."
"레이스를 하자, 이 내기는 내가 이길것이야."
"Oh,really?"
"오, 진짜?"
answered the hare.
토끼가 물어봤습니다.
"Let's try and see."
"해보자."
Soon the fox would be the judge for their race.
그리하여 여우가 삼펀울한 그들의 레이스가 시작됬습니다.
On race day both the hare and the tortoise met the fox at the starting line.
레이스를 하는날 토끼와 거북이 여우도 스타트 라인에 섰다.

- Both started off together.
둘다 시작했다.
Soon the hare was far ahead of the slow tortoise.
곧 토끼는 느린 거북이보다 앞서갔다.
The hare thought she could stop and take a rest.
토끼는 멈춰서 쉬자고 생각했다.
She found some nice,comfortable grass to rest in and was soon in a deep sleep.
토끼는 편안한 잔디를찾고 이내 깊은잠에 들었다.
Meanwhile the tortoise kept going and going.
그동안 거북이는 계속하여갔다.
He was slow,but he never stopped.
그는 느리지만 절때 멈추지 않았다.
After a nice long sleep the hare woke up.
좋은 잠을 잔후 토끼가 일어났다.
But there was a problem!
하지만 문제가 생겼다!
She slept for too long.
토끼는 너무 오래 잔것이다.
She jumped up and ran as fast as she could, but it was too late.
그녀는 뛰어 올랐고 가능한 빨리 달렸다.하지만 너무 늦었다.
The tortoise had already crossed the finish line.
거북이는 이미 결승선을 넘어 섰다.
Slow and steady wins the race.
서두르지 않고 꾸준히 달리는 사람이 이긴다.

- The Stag at the Lake
호숫가의 사슴
One very hot day, a tall, strong stag stopped to drink from a clear lake.
정말 더운 어느날, 키가 크고 강한 사슴이 호수에서 멈춰 물을 마셨습니다.
When he took a drink he could see his image in the water.
물을 마시고 그의 물에 비친 이미지를 보았다.
"My horns are so beautiful!"
"나의 뿔은 정말 아름다워!"
he said.
그가 말했다.
"Thay are so strong and graceful.
"그들은 썌고 우아하다.

- But I'm still sad because my legs are so thin and ugly!"
하지만 나의 추한 다리 때문에 슬퍼!"
At that moment, a lion came through the forest,and tried to jump on the stag.
그 순간, 사자가숲을 통하여 사슴 에게 뛰었습니다.
The stag ran away very, very fast.
사슴은 정말정말 빠르게 뛰었습니다.

- The ugly legs helped him run away.
추한 다리는 그를 뛸수있게 도와줬다.
But the lion didn't stop following the stag.
하지만 사자는 멈추지않고사슴을 좇았다.
Soon the stag ran into the forest.
이내 사슴은 달려서 숲안으로 들어갔다.
But the forest was very thick with many trees.
그러나 숲은 울창했고 나무가 많았다.
His beautiful horns got caught in the branches!
그의 아름다운 뿔이 가지에 걸리고말았다!
He tried to pull away but he couldn't beacause of the long horns.
그는 멀어지기위해 노력했지만 그의 긴 뿔 때문에 가지못했다.
Finally the lion caught up with the stag and killed him.
결국 사자에게잡혀 사슴은 죽었다.
People often forget what is really important in our lives.
사람들은 인생에서 무엇이 진정 중요한가를 종종 잊어버린다.

- The Country Mouse and the City Mouse
시골 쥐와 도시 쥐
One day a city mouse went to visit his friends in the country.
어느날 도시쥐가 그의 친구에게 자신의 나라로 놀러오라고 했다.
The country mouse was very glad to see his good friend.
그나라 쥐가 그의 친구를 보게되 너무 기뻤다.
He gave his guest the best dinner that he could find.
그는 그의 손님에게 최고의 저녁을 찾아줬다.
The country mouse was afraid that there was not enought food for two, so he just ate a little piece of corn.
그나라 쥐는 음식이 적어서 조그만한 조각옥수수를 먹었다.
His friend had some green peas, a piece of new cheese,and a ripe, red apple.
그의친구는 완두콩 조금과 새로운 치즈 그리고 사과를꺼냈다.
After the city Mouse ate all the dinner,he said,"How can you live in the country, my friend?"
밥을다먹은후에 도시쥐는 그에게 물었다 "이나라에 살꺼니친구야?"

- sYou can see nothing but forest,rivers,fields,and mountians.
너는 숲,강,들,산 밖에 못봤을꺼야.
you must be very tired of hearing nothing but bird songs."
너는 새소리 밖에 못들어봐서 굉장히 따분했을거야."
"Come with me to the city.
"우리같이 도시로 가자.
There you can live in a beautiful house and have good things for dinner every day.
너는 아름다운 집에서 살수있고 좋은 저녁을 항상 먹을수있어.
when you have lived in the city for a week, you will forget all about living in the country."
이번주에 도시에서 살아봐 전에 살던곳을 잊게 해줄게."
So the two mice went to the city.
두마리의 쥐들은 도시로 갔다.
They reached the home of the city mouse at night.
도시쥐의 집에 저녁에 도착했다.
"You must be hungry.
"너는 배고플꺼야.
We walked for a long time,"
우린 오랜시간동안 걸어왔어,"
said the city mouse to his firend.
도시쥐인 그의친구가 말했다.
"We will have some dinner immediately."
"우리는 즉시 저녁을 먹자."

- So thay went to the dining room, and the city mouse found some cake and fruit.
그래서 그들은 식당으로가 도시쥐는 케이크와 과일을 가져왔다.
"Help yourself."
"자 먹어."
he said.
그가 말했다.
"There is enough for both of us."
"This is a very good dinner,"
"좋은 저녁이였어,"
said the country mouse.
시골쥐가 말했다.
"You are very rich, my friend!"
"너정말 부유하구나, 내친구야"
