- He was walking along with the meat in his mouth,as happy as a king.
그는 그의입에고기를 물고 걸으니 왕만큼 행복했다.
On his way home there was a stream.
그는 집으로 가던길에 개울이 있었습니다.
The dog stopped to look into the calm, clear water.
개는 고요하고 깨끗한 물을 바라보려고 멈춰섰습니다.
What did the dog see in the water?
무엇 때문에 개는 물을 보았을까요?
He saw a dog looking up at him!
그는 그를 바라보는 개를 보았다!

- This dog looked the sameas our happy little dog,and even had a similar piece of meat in its mouth!
이 개는 우리의 행복한 작은 개와 똑같이 생겼고 심지어 입안에 비슷한 고기 조각이있었습니다!
"I'll try to get that meat,too,"
"나도 그 고기를 가지고싶은데."
said the dog.
개가 말했다.
But as soon as he tried to bite the new piece of meat,his own meat fell out of his mouth and into the stream!
그러나 새로운고기를 물을려다가 물에빠뜨렸어요!
Then he saw that the other dog inthe water had lost his piece,too.
개는 다른 개도 물에 빠뜨리는 것을 보았어요.
He went sadly home.
개는 슬프게 집을 갔다.
That day he only had his dreams to eat.
그날 개는 먹는꿈을 꾸었습니다.
Be careful of losing something youhave for something that may not exist.
존재하지 않을 수도 있는 뭔가를 좇다가 자신이 가진 것도 잃을 수 있으니 조심하라.

- Belling the Cat
고양이 목에 방울 달기
One day all mice came together to talk about the cat.
어느날 모든 쥐들이 고양이에 대하여 말하고 있었다.
"We must think of a plan to get away from it."
"우리는 고양이로 부터 도망치기위한 계획을 생각해야해,"
said one old mouse.
늙은 쥐가 말했다.
"It has eaten too many of us.so what shall we do?"
"고양이는 우리를 너무 많이 먹었다. 우리는 무엇을 할수 있는가?"
At last one proud young mouse stood up.
마침 어린 쥐가 일어났다.
"You know, my brothers,"
"다들 알다시피,"
said the young mouse,
어린 쥐가 말했다.
"the cat moves very quietly.
"고양이의 움직임은 정말 빠르다.
We do not hear it quickly enough to escape.
우리는 빨리도망칠정도로 소리가 들리지않는다.

Let's go and buy a bell."

But just then an old mouse spoke.
하지만 그때 늙은 쥐가 말하였습니다.

said the wise, old mouse.
슬기로운 늙은 쥐가 말했다.
"your plan is very good.
"너의 계획은 아주 좋아.
But who will tie the bell on the cat?"
하지만 누가 고양이 목에 종을 달꺼지?
Then each mouse looked at another,and they all said,
그다음 쥐들은 다른쥐들을 바라보며 말했다,
"Right, - who?"
"누가 하지?"
It is easy to suggest difficult things, but it is hard to do them.
어려운 일을 제안하기는 쉽지만 실행하기는 힘들다.
