Week 1-Intro to Class

Introduction to English club class, expectations, syllabus for class. Explain theme: Around the world

Students will create a doll of themselves. This doll will serve as a name tag and motivation for each class. In the beginning of each class the teacher will give the students clothes to put on their doll. The clothes will be representative of the country we will study that day. Students will be asked to look at the clothes and see if they can guess which country they will study.

Students will create a passport. Explain why people need passports.  What happens if someone doesn't have their passport and is abroad?  Do you have a passport? 

Students will be given a stamp in their passport for each country visited, but only if they successfully completed homework from the previous week and the classwork that day.

Explain Create your own country project. Homework will be given every week to help students work on this project over the course of the semester.

Writing: Journal time.  Where do you dream of traveling?  Where have you already been?  How do you think you can get there?  What will you do to get there?

All materials will be kept in a clear file that will serve as their travel journal.
