"그들은 그녀의 생활비로 칠 프랑을 요구했어요.
At first, I was able to pay it.
처음에 저는 그것을 지불 할 수 있었죠.
I had work in the factory.
저는 공장에서 일을 했어요.
I even had money to buy new furniture.
저는 새로운 가구를 살 돈도 있었죠.

Cosette needed a woolen dress for winter.
코제트는 겨울 모지옷이 필요했어요.
Cosette was sick.
코제트는 아팠어요.
Doctor's dills and medicine put me behind in my payments.
의사의 법안과 약 뒤에 이름을 넣었죠.
"Things got worse when I lost my jod," she continued.
"전 제 직업을 잃었을때 상황은 더 악화됬어요." 그녀가 계속했다.

"I owe Monieur Thenardier so much money.
"저는 몽테르유에 있는 테나르디에에게 많은 빚을 지고있어요.
I'm afraid Cosette may at this moment be living in the street!"
저는 코제트가 거리에서 살까봐 두려워요!"
As Fantine finished her story,
팡틴은 그녀의 이야기를 마무리했다,
pain filled her eyes.
고통은 그녀의 눈을 가득 채웠다.

and told him to use the rest to bring Cosette to me.
그리고 그에게 코제트를 데리고 오려면 어떻게 해야 하는지 물었다.
But Thenardier wrote back asking for more money.
그러자 테나르디에는 더 많은 돈을 요구했다.

Fantine's winter cough turned into pneumonia.
팡틴의 겨울 감기가 폐렴으로 바뀌었다.
One morning the nurse took me aside.
어느날 간호사가 나를 그녀의 옆으로 데리고갔다.
"You'd better dring the child," she whispered.
"당신이 아이를 데려와 주세요," 그녀가 속삭였다.
"Her mother grows weaker every day."
"그녀의 어머니는 매일 약간 자라고 있어요,"[?]

팡틴은 눈을 뜨고 코제트를 불렀다.
"I will get her myself if I have to," I promised.

I wrote the Thenardiers.
나는 테나르디에 부부에게 [편지를] 썻다.
Fantine told me what to write.
팡틴은 나에게 무엇을 쓰라고 말했다.
And then she signed it.
그리고 그녀는 그것에 서명했다.

I could not forget how badly he had treated Fantine.
그는 팡틴에게 얼마나 심하게 했는지 나는 잊을 수 없다.
Javert stood there for quite some time.
자베르는 꽤 오랜시간 그곳에 서있었다.
I don't know how he looked.
그가 어떤모습인지 몰랐다.
My eyes were on my paper.
내 눈은 내 종이에 있었다.
Finally, I put my pen bown.
마지막으로, 나는 나의 팬을 놓았다.
"Well, Javert, what is it?" I asked.
"음, 자베르, 그건 무엇입니까?" 나는 물었다.
