- "You think Winnie's kidnapper was standing right there at the microphone?" Dink said.
"너의 생각은 Winnie의 납치범이 마이크 오른쪽에 서있던 사람이라는거야?"Dink가 물었다.
Ruth Rose nodded.
Ruth Roses는 고개를 끄덕였다.
"Yes, and I think Ping recognized him or her.
"그래, 그리고 나는 Ping이 그나 그녀를 알아봤다고 생각해.
That's why she charged the fence!"
그것이 왜 그녀가 울타리 박치기를 한이유군!"
"But the guy probably stole Winnie at night," Dink said, "so how could Ping have seen him?"
"그러나 그 남자는 Winnie를 밤에 훔친다고 했잖아," Dink가 말했다 "그래서 어떻게 Ping이 그를 본거지?"
"Maybe she didn't see him," Ruth Rose said, "but she might have smelled him."
"아마도 그녀는 그를 못봤을거야," Ruth Rose가 말했다, "그러나 아마도 그녀는 그의 냄새를 맡았겠지."
"Right," Josh said.
"맞아," Josh가 말했다.
"Most animals can smell a lot better than humans."

- Dink stared at the TV screen.
Dink는 TV화면을 보았다.
"So how do we figure out who Ping was growling at?" he asked.
"그래서 어떻게 핑이 으르렁거렸다는걸 인정시키지?" 그가 물었다.
"Too bad pandas can't talk," Josh said.
"너무 나쁜건 판다들은 말을 못한다는거야,"
"We could just ask her!"
"우리는 그저 그녀에게 물어봐야해!"
"Pandas can't talk," Ruth Rose said, "but people can.
"판다들은 말을 못하지만, Ruth Rose가 말했다, "사람들은 할수있어.
I say we inerview the three people who were standing at the microphone, starting with Irene Napper.
내 말은 우리가 누가 마이크 앞에서있었고, Irene Napper과 시작했는지 인터뷰 하는거야.
"You think she did it?" Dink asked.
"너는 그녀가 했다고 생각해?" Dink가 물었다.
"I don't know," Ruth Rose said.
"나는 몰라," Ruth Rose가 물었다.
"But she does have a key to the gate."
"그런데 그녀는 문의 열쇠를 가지고있잖아."
"If she thinks we suspect her, she might clam up," Josh said.

Ruth Rose pointed at Dink's notebook.
Rurh Rose는 Dink의 공책을 가리켰다.
"We'll tell her we're writing a story for the The Panda Paper."
"우리는 그녀에게 판다 신문을 위해 우리가 이야기를 썼다고 말할거야."
"Good idea," Dink said.
"좋은 생각이야," DInk가 말했다.
Josh stood up and patted his stomach.
Josh는 일어나서 그의 배를 쓰다듬었다.
"I have to be home by four to watch the twins for an hour," he said.

- Ruth Rose grabbed the cookie box.
Ruth Rose는 쿠키 상자를 잡았다.
It was empty!

"Joshua, I didn't get a single cookie!" she said.
"Joshua, 나는 쿠키를 먹고싶어!" 그녀가 말했다.
Josh grinned.
Josh는 소리없이 살짝 웃었다.
"Detective work makes me hungry!"

Josh woke up Pal, and the kids left Ruth Rose's house.
Josh는 Pal를 깨우고, 그 아이들은 Ruth Rose의 집을 떠났다.
They took a shortcut through the rose garden in Center Park.
그들은 지름길을 통해 장미 정원이있는 센터 파크에 갔다.
Pal barked at a swam being trailed by three cygnets.
Pal은 수영을 하고있었던 새끼 백조들을 보고 짖었다.
They passed the Book Nook and waved at Mr. Paskey in his window.

At the petting zoo, they passed under a wooden arch.

A honeysuckle vine a sweet smell.

They found Irene Napper surrounded by ducks.

- "Well, hi," Irene said.

"Say, weren't you kids at Panda Park this morning?"

We're sorry about the kidnapping," Josh said.

Irene's smile disappeared.
Irene의 미소가 사라졌다.
"I'm so angry I don't know what to do!" she said.
"나는 어떻게 된건지 몰라서 아주 화가나!" 그녀가 말했다.
"Who would steal a baby panda?"
"누가 아기 판다를 훔쳐갔지?"
No one knew what to say.
누구도 말을 하지않았다.
"Good thing Winnie's old enough to eat bamboo," Irene said.
"다행인것은 Winnie가 대나무를 먹을 만한 나이가 되었다는거야," Irene이 말했다.
"If she still needed her mother's milk, I don't think she'd make it."

Ruth Rose nudged Dink.
Ruth Rose가 Dink를 팔꿈치로 찔렀다.
"Um, we're writing a story fo The Panda Paper," Dink said.
"음, 우리는 판다 신문에대해서 이야기를 쓰고있어요," Dink 가 말했다.
"Could we ask you some questions?"
"우리가 몇개의 질문을 해도 될까요?"
The woman looked at Dink for a moment.
그 여자는 Dink를 잠시 보았다.
"Yeah, I guess," she said finally.
"그래, 괜찮아," 그녀가 마침내 말했다.
Just then, Pal barked,and the ducks scattered.
바로 그때, Pal이 짖으면서, 그 오리들은 뿔뿔이 흩어졌다.
"But first let's move your dog away my ducks," Irene said.
"그런데 먼저 너의 개를 나의 오리로 부터 멀리 떨어뜨려야 겠다. Irene이 말했다.

- The kids followed Irene to a shady bench.
그 아이들은 Irene을 따라서 그들이있는 벤치에갔다.
She sat and stretched out her long legs.
그녀는 앉아서 그녀의 긴다리를 쭉뻗었다.
"Shoot," Irene said.
"발사," Irene이 말했다.
Pal sighed and dropped to the ground.
Pal은 한숨쉬며 땅에 떨어졌다.
Irene started stroking his ears.
Irene은 그의 귀를 때렸다.
Dink noticed that Irene's hands were large and strong-looking.
Dink는 Irene의 손이 크고 강하게 보이는것에 집중했다.
Everyone was waiting for Dink to ask a question.
모두들이 Dink가 질문하는것을 기다렸다.
But Dink's mind was suddenly blank.
그러나 Dink의 머리는 갑자기 멍해졌다.

- "Who takes care of Ping and Winnie?" Ruth Rose asked, coming to Dink's rescue.
"누가 Ping과 Winnie를 돌보지?" Ruth Rose가 DInk를 몰라 오면서 말했다.
"I do," Irene said.
"내가 해," Irene 이 말했다.
"I feed them, clean out their area, all that stuff.
"나는 그들에게 먹이를 주고, 그들의 지역과 모든것들을 청소해.
Ping even let me hold her baby."
PIng은 종종 그녀의 아기를 내가 데리고 있게 했어."
Dink wrote down what Irene said.
DInk는 Irene의 얘기를 받아적었다.
Then he asked, "When did you last see Winnie?"
그때 그거 물었다, 언제가 마지막으로 Winnie를 보았을때죠?"
"Last night," Irene said, "when I added fresh water to their pool.
"어제 저녁," Irene이 말했다, "내가 새로운 물을 걔네들의 수영장에 추가했을때였어.
That was about eight o'clock.
그때가 거의 8시쯤이였어.
"So someone snatched her between then and ten o'clock this morning," Ruth Rose said.
"그러니까 누가 그녀를 오늘 아침 10시 사이에 잡아갔다는 얘기죠," Ruth Rose가 말했다.
Irene nodded.
Irene이 고개를 끄덕였다.
Dink thought she might cry.
DInk는 그녀가 아마도 울었을거라고 생각했다.
Dink had his next question all ready.
DInk는 그의 다음 질문을 준비하고있었다.
"How many people have keys to he gate?" he asked.
"몇몇의 사람들이 그 문의 열쇠를 가지고 있죠?" 그가 물었다.
Irene looked at him.
Irene이 그를 보았다.
"Only me," she said finally.
"오직 나만," 그녀가 마침내 말했다.
She patted a key ring hanging from her belt.
그녀는 종이흔들리는 그녀의 벨트에있는 열쇠를 쓰담들었다.

A duck waddled over and pecked at Irene's boot.
한 오리가 뒤뚱뒤뚱 걸어오더니 Irene의 발을 콕콕 찍었다.
She reached into her pocket, found a few more pellets, and flung them to the ground.
그녀는 그녀의 주머니에서, 몇몇의 펠릿을 꺼내 그들에게 던져주었다.
I've got to get back to work," she said, standing up.
나는 가서 일을 해야할거같아," 그녀가 일어서면서 말했다.
She glanced down at Dink's notebook.
그녀는 Dink의 공책을 흘깃 내려다보았다.
"Good luck with your story!"
"너의 이야기의 행운을 빌게!"
"Thanks," Dink said.
"감사합니다," Dink가 말했다.
"By the way, do you know where Tom Steele lives?"
"그런데, 당신은 Tom Steele 이 어디에 사는지 아시나요?"
Irene shook her head.
Irene은 그녀의 머리를 흔들었다.
"No, but you'll probably find him in his office."
"아니, 그런데 너라면 그의 사무실을 찾을지도 몰라."
Dink looked blank.
DInk는 멍하니 있었다.
"His office?"
"그의 사무실?"
"It's in the senior community center," Irene said.
"그것은 고위의 커뮤니티 센터야," Irene이 말했다.
She gave him a suspicious look.
그녀는 그를 의혹스럽게 봤다.
"I'm surprised you don't know that, since you're writing a story for him."

- Dink had to think fast.
Dink는 빠르게 생각했다.
"Tom Steele doesn't know we're doing a story," he said.
"Tom Steele은 우리가 이야기를 쓰고있다는것을 모르는데," 그가 말했다.
"We just decided to write it a little while ago.
"우리는 방금 이야기를 써야겠다고 결심했어요.
We're hoping he'll publish it."
우리는 그가 이것을 출판하기를 희망하고있어요."
"Does he work on Sundays?" Ruth Rose asked.
"그가 일요일에도 일하나요?" Ruth Rose가 물었다.
"I wouldn't be surprised," Irene said.
"나는 놀라지 않았을것이다," Irene이 말했다.
"Especially after what happened to Winnie."
"특히 Winnie에게 무슨일이 생긴후에도."
The kids thanked Irene and headed out of the petting zoo.
그 아이들은 Irene에게 감사하고 동물원으로 향했다.
