=> There was는 '~가 있었다'라는 뜻입니다. 이 문장의 뜻은 '오직 한 가지 행사만이 있었다'라는 정도입니다.

'그 전체 행사는 단지 몇 시간 밖에 지속되지 않았다'라는 뜻이 됩니다.
