"Never you mind." said the Ladybug.
묻지마렴 그 무당벌레가 말했다.
"But nothing could be worse than this desolate hilltop and those two repulsive aunts of yours-"
그러나 적막한 언덕 꼭대기나 너의 못된 두 고모보다 나쁘겠니?
"Hear,hear!" thay all shouted.
옳다 옳다! 그들은 모두 소리쳤다.
"Hear,hear!"
옳다 옳다!
"You may not have noticed it,"the ladybug went on,
너는 그것을 알아차리지 못했는지도 몰라 무당벌레는 시작했다.
"but the whole garden, even before it reaches the steep edge of the hill. happens to be on a steep slope.
그러나 정원전부, 그것 가장자리쪽이 가파른 언덕과 이어져있어
And therefore the only thing that has been stopping this peach from rolling away right from the begining is the thick stem attaching it to the tree.
그리고 그러므로 이 복숭아가 굴러 떨어지지 않는건 굵은 가지에 매달려 있어서 이다
Break the stem, and off we go!"
그 가지가 부셔지면 우리는 가는거야!
"Watch it!" cried Miss Spider, as the room gave another violent lurch.
조심해!그방이 격력하게 흔들렸을때 거미씨는 소리쳤다
"Here we go!"

"At this moment," counted the Ladybug.
바로지금 , 무당벌레는 수를 세었다.
"Our Centipede, who has a pair of jaws as sharp as razors, is up there on top of the peach nibbling away at that stem.
면도칼같은 날카로운 턱을 가진 우리의 지네는 복숭아 꼭대기에서 가지를 야금야금 입으로 잘래내고 있어
In fact, he must be nearly through it, as you can tell from the way we`re lurching about.
사실 그는 거의 끝났을거야 우리가 흔들리는걸 말할수있어
Would you like me to take you under my wing so that you like me to take you under my wing so that you won`t fall over when we start rolling?"
굴러가기 시작하면 넘어지지 않게 너를 내 날개속에 넣어줄까?
"That`s very kind of you," siad James, "but I think I`ll be all right."
정말 친절하시네요 James는 말했다. 그러나 저는 괜찮아요.
Just then, the Centipede stuck his grining face through a hole in the celling and shouted,"I`ve done it!" We`re off!"
바로그때 그 지네가 천장에 난 구멍으로 얼굴을 들이밀고 소리쳤다."다 했어
우리 가자!"
"We`re off!" the others cried.
우리 가자! 다른것들도 소리쳤다.
"We`re off!"
"The journey begins!" shouted the Centipede

"There is no knowing what we shall see!" cried the centipede.

"We may see a Creature with forty nine heads
머리 마흔아홉개 달린 고물은 우리를 볼지도 몰라
Who lives in the desolate snow, and whenever he catches a cold
황량한 눈에 살고있는 그리고 그가 감기에 걸리면
He has forty nine noses to blow.
그는 코를 마흔 아홉번 풀어야할거야
"We many see the venomous Pink Spotted

- One second later... slowly, insidiously, oh most gently,
잠시후 천천히 서서히 오 가장 부드럽게
The grat peach started to lean forward and steal into montion.
그 거대한복숭아는 앞으로 기울면서 살며시 움직이기 시작했다.
The whole room began to tilt over and all the furniture went sliding across the floor, and crashed against the far wall.
방안 전체가 기울어지기 시작했고 모든 가구들이 바닥을 가로질러 미끌어지기 시작하면서 벽쪽 반대로 부딪혔다.
So did James and the Ladybug and the Old Green Grasshopper and Miss Spider and the Earthworm, also the Centipede ,who had just come slithering quickly down the wall.
그래서 제임스와 무당벌레 늙은 초록메뚜기 그리고 거미양과 지렁이 또한 지네도 단지 빠르게 벽아래로 미끌어져왔다

Aunt Sponge and Aunt Spiker had just taken their places at the front gate,

"I wonder what became of that horrid little boy of ours last night," Aunt Sponge said.
그 망할 꼬마녀석이 지난밤에 어떻게 됐나봐 Sponge고모가 말했다.
"He never did come back in, did he?
그는 돌아오지 않았어 그렇지?
"He probably fell down in the dark and broke his leg," Aunt Spiker said.
그는 깜깜한 곳에서 떨어져서 그의 다리를 다쳤나보지 Spiker고모는 말했다.
"Or his neck, maybe," Aunt Sponge said hopefully.
아니면 그의 목일지도 몰라 Sponge이모는 바라듯이 말했다.
"Just wait till I get my hands on him,"Aunt Spiker said, waving her cane.

"He`ll never want to say out all night again by the time I`ve finished with him.

What`s that awful noise?"
무슨 끔직한 소리야?
Both women swung around to look.
두 여자는 주위를 좌우로 흔들며 보았다.
The noise, of course, had been caused by the giant peach crashing through the fence that surrounded it.
그 소리는 물론 거대한 복숭아가 그 울타리를 깔아뭉개는 소리였다.
And now gathering speed every second, it came roling across the garden toward the place where Aunt Sponge and Aunt Spiker were standing.
그리고 지금 각각 모였다 그것은 그 정원을 가로질러 Sponge고모와 Spiker고모가 서있는 곳까지 데굴데굴 굴러가고 있었다.

Aunt Sponge and Aunt Spiker lay ironed out upon the grass as flat and thin and lifeless as a couple of paper dolls cuto ut of a picture book.
Sponge고모와 Spiker고모는 다리미로 다린것처럼 잔디밭에 옆어져있었고 책에서 오려낸 종이인형처럼 납작하고 얄팍했다.
And now the peach had broken out of the garden and was over the edge of the hill,

rolling and bouncing down the steep slope at a terrific pace.

Faster and faster and faster it went,

And the crowds of people who were climbing up the hill suddenly sight of this terrible monster plunging down upon them and they screamed and scattered to right and left as it went hurtling by.

At the bottom of the hill it charged across the road, knocking over a telegraphpole and flattening two parked automobiles as it went by.

Then it rushed madly across about twenty fields, breaking down all the fences and hedges in its path.

The peach was still going at a tremendous speed with no sign of slowing down

Down the main street of the village it rolled, with people leaping frantically out of its path right ad left,

- This building happened to be a famous factory where they made chocolate,

and almost at once a great river of warm melted chocolate came pouring out of the holes in the factory wall.

A minute later, this brown sticky mess was flowing through every street in the village, oozing under the doors of houses and into people`s shops and gardens.

외양간,마구간,양돈장, 방갈로 건초가리등 길을 방해하는 무엇이든 볼링대마냥 흔들렸다.
An old man sitting quietly beside a stream had his fishing rod whisked out of his hands as it went dashing by.
조용히 물가 옆에 앉아있는 늙은 남자는 이것이 돌진할때 그의 손에있는 낚시대가 움직였다

A round object will always keep on rolling as long as it is on a downjill slope
둥근 물체는 내리막길에 있는한 계속 굴러간다
And in this case the land sloped downhill at the way untill it reached the ocean the same ocean that James had begged his aunts to be allowed to visit the day before.
그리고 이 경우 땅은 바데에 도착할때까지 내내 내리막길 경사로 되어있었다
Well, perhaps he was going to visit it now.
음 아마 그는 지금 거기를 방문할것이다.
The peach was rushing closer and closer to it every second, and closer also to the towering white cliffs that came first.
그 복숭아는 초마다 바다에 점점 더 가까이 돌진하고 또한 처음에 보이는 하얀절벽에 가까이 간다.
