"We`ll try anything you say!" said the Centipede.

- And all the time while they were waiting they could hea the sharks threshing around in the water below them.
그리고 모든 그 시간동안 그들은 그 상어들이 물 주위에서 요동치는것을 들을수 있었다.
It was enough to make anyone frantic.,
이것은 어느 누구도 미치게 만들기에 충분했다.
"Come on,James," the Ladybug said, coaxing him.

"I...I...I`m afraid it`s no good after all," James murmured, shaking his head.

We don`t have any sting. We`d need hundreds of yards of string to make this work.

"What sort of string?" asked the Old Green Gasshopper sharply.

어떻게? 어디에?
"The Silkworm!" cried the Old- Green Grsshopper.
그 누에! 그 늙은 초록 메뚜기는 소리쳤다.
"Didn`t you ever notice the Silkworm?
너 누에를 생각못했니?
She`s still down stairs!
그녀는 여전히 아래층에 있어!
She never moves!
그녀는 절대 움직이지 않아!
She just lies there sleeping all day long, but we can easily wake her up and make her spin!"
그녀는 단지 거기 누워서 하루종일 잠을 자, 그러나 우리는 금방 그녀를 깨워서 실을 잣게 하면 되잖아!
"And what about me, may I ask?" said Miss Spider.

그는 농담하는거야!
"Go on, James,"the Ladybug said gently.
계속해 James 그 무당벌레는 부드럽게 말했다.
"How are you going to do it?"
어떻게 할거니?
"Skyhooks, I suppose,"jeered the Centipede.
스카이 훅이라고 추정해. 그 지네는 조롱했다.
"Seagulls," James answered calmly.
갈매기, James는 단호히 대답했다.
"The place is full of them.
이 장소는 그것들이 가득해
Look up there!"
위를 봐
They all looked up and saw a great mass of seagulls wheeling round and round in the sky.
그들은 모두 위를 보았다 그리고 엄청난 갈매기들이 하늘위를 빙글빙글 돌고있는것을 봤다.

- "I`m going to take a long silk string,"James went on, "and I`m going to loop one end of it around a seagull`s neck.

And the Old Green- Grasshopeer said, "How can a few seagulls lift an enormous thing like this up into the air, and all of us as well?
그리고 그 늙은 초록 메뚜기는 말했다 어떻게 몇명의 갈매기가 이렇게 거대한것을 들어올리겠어 그리고 우리 모두다?

"There is no shortage of seagulls." James answered.
갈매기는 모자르지 않아 James가 대답했다.

We`ll probably need four hundred, five hundred, six hundred ... maybe even a thousand ... I don`t know...
400마리 500마리 60마리 아마 심지어 1000마리가 있을거야 잘 모르겠지만
I shall simply go on hooking them up to the stem until we have enough to lift us in the end.

It`s like ballons

You give someone enough balloons to hold, I mean really enough, then up he goes.

I suppose you`re going to fly up there yourself and catch it!"

"The boy`s dotty!" said the Centipede.
소년은 약간 미쳤어! 그 지네는 말했다.
"Let him finish," said the Ladybug.
그를 내버려둬, 그 무당벌레는 말했다.

How would you do it?"
어떻게 한다고?
"With bait."
미끼를 가지고할거야
"Bait! What sort of bait?"
미끼! 어떤 종류의 미끼?
"With a worm, of course. Seagulls love worms, didn`t you know that?"

And luckly for us, we have here the biggest, fattest,pinkest,juiciest Earthworm in the world

"That`s why there are so many of them circling around.
그래서 이 주위를 많은것들이 돌고있어
But they daren`t come down to get him while all the rest of us are standing here.
그러나 그들은 그를 잡으려고 내려오지 못하고 있어 우리가 여기 서있기 때문에

"Stop!" cried the Earthworm.
멈춰! 그 지렁이는 소리쳤다.

"Be quiet!" said the Centipede.

"Why don`t we hear what the plan is first?" said the Old-Green-Grasshopper.
우리 이계획에 첫번째 순서를 들어보는게 어때? 그 늙은 초록 메뚜기는 말했다.
"I don`t give a hoot what the plan is!" cried the Earth worm.
난 계획이 무엇인지 조금도 상관안해! 그 지렁이는 소리쳤다.
"I am not going to be pecked to death by a bunch of seagulls!"
난 갈매기들에게 쪼여죽지 않을거!
"You will be a martyr,"said the Centipede.
너는 성자가 될거야, 그 지네는 말했다.
"I shall respect you for the rest of my life."
나는 내 나머지 삶동안 너를 존경할것이야.
"So will I," said Miss Spider.
나도 그럴게 거미씨도 말했다.
"And your name will be in all the newspapers.
그리고 너의 이름은 모든 신문에 들어갈거야
Earhworm gives life to save friends..."
지렁이는 친구들의 생명을 구하기 위해 목숨을 바치다..
"But he won`t have to give his life," James told them.
그러나 그는 그의 목숨을 주지 않아도 될거야 James는 그들에게 말했다.
"Now listen to me.

- "Why, it`s absolutely brillant!" cried the Old-Green-Grasshopper when James had explained his plan.
와 굉장히 멋진대! James가 그의 계획을 설명했을때 그 늙은 초록 메뚜기는 소리쳤다.
"The boy`s a genius!" the Centipede announced.
저 소년은 천재야! 그 지네는 발표했다.
"Now I can keep my bots on after all."
지금 나는 나의 부츠를 계속 신을수 있어
"Oh, I shall be pecked to death!"wailed the poor Earthworm.
오, 나는 쪼여서 죽을것이야! 그 불쌍한 지렁이는 울부짖었다.
"Of course you won`t"
물론 그렇지 않아
"I will, I know I will!
그럴거야 그럴거라고 난 알아!
And I won`t even be able to see them coming at me because I have no eyes!"
그리고 나는 눈이 없어서 그들이 나한테 오는것 조차 알수 없어거야!
James went over and put an arm gently around the Earthworm`s shoulders.
James는 가서 지렁이의 어깨에 팔을 살짝 얹었다.
"I won`t let them touch you,", he said.
나는 그들이 널 만지지 못하게 할거야 그는 말했다.
"I promise I won`t.
그렇지 않을거라고 내가 약속할게
But we`ve got to hurry!
그러나 우리는 서둘러야해!
Look down there!"
저 아래를 봐!
There were more sharks than ever now around the peach.
복숭아 주위는 전보다 더 많은 상어가 있었다.
The water was boiling with them.

There must have been ninety or a hundred at least.

- And to the travelers up on top, it certainly seemed as though the peach were sinking lower and lower into the water.

He was the captain now, and everyone knew it.

They would do whatever he told them.
