- "An excellent idea,"said the Ladybug.
탁월한 생각이야 무당벌레가 말했다.
"What are you looking so worried about Earthworm?"
무엇을 그렇게 걱정스럽게 보고있어 지렁이야?
"The problem is..." the Earthworm said, "the problem is ... well, the problem is that there is no problem!"
그 문제는... 지렁이가 말했다 그 문제는..음 그문제는, 문제가 없다는거야
Everyone brust out laughing.
모두 웃음을 터뜨렸다.
"Cheer up, Earthworm!" they said.
힘내 지렁아! 그들은 말했다.
"Come and eat!"
와서 먹자!
And they all went over to the tunnel entrance and began scooping out great chunks of juicy, golden colored peach flesh.
그리고 그들은 모두 터널 입구로 가서 즙이 많고 금빛의 복숭아를 한 숟갈 떠먹기 시작했다

- "Oh, marvelous!" said the Centipede, stuffing it into his mouth.
와, 훌륭해! 그 반딧불이 말했다, 그의 입으로 넣으며 말했다
"Dee-lcious!"said the Old-Green-Grasshopper.
맛있어 그 늙은 초록 메뚜기는 말했다.
"Just fabulous!" said the Flow-worm.
그냥 훌륭해! 그 반딧불이가 말했다.
"Oh my!" said the Ladybug priml.
오 이런! 무당벌레가 새침하게 말했다.
"What a heavenly taste!" She looked up at James,and she smiled, and James smiled back at her.
이 천상의 맛이야! 그녀는 James를 올려다보고 웃고 James도 그녀를 보고 웃었다.
They sat down on the deck together, both of them chewing away hapily.
그들은 갑판위에 함께 둘러앉아 그들 둘다 행복하게 깨물어 뜯었다.
"You know, James," the Ladybug said,"up until this moment, I have never in my life tasted anything except those tiny little green flies that live on rosebushes.
너도 알다시피 James 그 무당벌레는 말했다 난 이때까지 내 인생에서 장미 덤불에 살고있는 작은초록파리를 제외하고 이런맛은 먹어본적 없어

"Personally, I had always thought that a big, juicy, caught-in-the-web bluebottle was the finest dinner in the world-untill I tasted this."
개인적으로 나는 항상크고 즙이 많고 거미줄에 잡히는 청파리에게 세상에서 최고의 음식이라 생각했어어요 -내가 맛보기 전까지는
"What a flawor!" the Centipede cried.
정말 맛있어! 그 지네는 소리쳤다.
"It`s terrific!

And I should know becaue I personally have tasted all the finest foods in the world!"
그리고 나는 세계의 모든 최고의 음식을 개인적으로 다 먹어봤기 때문에 알수있다.
Whereupon, the Centipede, with his mouth full of peach and with running down all over his chin, suddenly burst into song:
그래서 그 지네는 그의 입안가득 복숭아를 문체로 턱을 부지런히 움직이면서
갑자기 노래를 부른다.
"I`ve eaten many strange and scrumptions dishes in my time
나는 내 시절에 많이 이상하고 아주 맛있는 음식들을 먹어봤어
Like jellied gmats and dandyprats and earwigs cooked in slime
젤리 형태로 만든 () 와 () 그리고 집게벌례들을 점액으로 요리해 먹었다
And mice with rice they`re really nice
그리고 좋은 쌀과 함께 그들은 진짜 괜찮다

Hot noodles made from poodles on a slice of garden hose

And a rather smelly jelly
그리고 꽤 젤리냄새가 나게한다.
Made of armadillo`s toes.
아르마딜로 발톱으로 만들었다.
The jelly is delicious, but you have to hold your nose.
그 젤리는 맛있다. 그러나 너는 너의 코를 잡을거야
"Now comes," the Centipede declared, "the burden of my speech:

Everybody was felling happy now.
모두 지금 행복함을 느끼고 있었다.
The sun was shining brightly out of a soft blue sky and the day was calm.
그 태영은 연한 파란하늘에서 밝게 빛나고 있었고 그 날은 차분했다.
The giant peach, with the sunlight glinting on its side, was like a massive golden ball sailing upon a silver sea.
그 햇빛이 한쪽을 비추고 있는 거대한 복숭아는 은빛바다 위를 출항하고있는 거대한 황금빛 공 같았다.

- "Look!"cried the Centipede just as they were finishing their meal.
"봐!" 그 지네는 단지 그들은 그들의 식사를 끝맞치려고 할때 소리쳤다.
"Look at that funny thin black thing gliding through the water over there!"
저기 물을 미끄러지듯 내려오는 저 재미있는 얇은 검은물건을 봐 !
They all swung around to look.
그들은 모두 보기위해 돌았다.
"There are two of them,"said Miss Spider.
둘씩이나 있어 , 거미씨는 말했다.
"There are lots of them!" said the Ladybug.
많이 있는데! 무당벌레는 말했다.
"What are they?"asked the Earthworm, getting worried.
그들은 뭐지? 걱정하기 시작하며 말했다.
"They must be some kind of fish," said the Old Green Grasshopper.
그들은 약간의 작은 물고기일거야 그 늙은 초록 메뚜기는 말했다

- "Perhaps they have come along to say hello."
아마 그들은 인사하려고 온것 같은데.
"They are sharks!" cried the Earthworm.
그들은 상어들이야! 그 지렁이는 소리쳤다.
"I`ll bet you anything you like that they are sharks and they have come along to eat us up!"
내 장담컨데 그들은 상어이고 그들은 우리를 먹으려고 따라온거야
"What absolute rot!" the Centipede said, but his voice seemed suddenly to have become a little shaky, and he wasn`t laughing.
말 같지도 않은 소리! 그지네는 말했다, 그러나 그의 목소리는 갑자기 약간 떨리는것 같고 그는 웃지도 않았다.
"I am positive they are sharks!" said the Earthworm.
그들은 분명 상어야! 그 지렁이는 말했다.
"I just know they are sharks!"

And so, in actual fact, did everybody else, but they were too frightened to admit it.

- There was a short silence.
짧은 침묵이 있었다.
They all peered down anxiously at the skarks, who were cruising slowly round and round the peach.
그들은 모두 그 복숭아 주위를 천천히 돌고있는 상어들을 걱정스럽게 내려다 보고있었다.
"Just assuming that they are skarks," the Centipede said. "there still can`t possibly be any danger if we stay up here."
그들이 상어라고 가정해보자 그 지네는 말했다. 만약 우리가 여기 머물러있다면 아마 위험한 일은 없을거야
But even as he spoke, one of those thin black fins suddenly changed direction and came cutting swiftly through the water right up to the side of the peach itself.
그러나 그는 말하자마자, 얇은 검은 지느러미중 하나가 갑자기 방향을 바꾸었고 복숭아 바로 옆의 물을 빠르게 가로지르며 오고있었다.
The shark paused and stared up at the company with small evil eyes.
그 상어는 멈추고 작은 악마같은 눈으로 그 단체를 올려다 보았다.
"Go away!" they shouted.
저리가! 그들은 소리쳤다.
"Go away, you filthy beast!"
저리가 아주 더러운 짐승아!

- Slowly, almost lazily, the shark opened his mouth (which was big enough to have swallowed a perabula tor) and made a lunge at the peach.
천천히 거의 게으르게, 그 상어는 그의 입을 열었다 (유모차를 집어삼킬정도로 큼직한) 그리고 그 복숭아로 달려들었다.
They all watched, aghast.
그들은 모두 겁에 질린채 보았다.
And now, as though at a signal from the leader,all the other sharks came swimming in toward the peach, and they clustered around it and bagan to attack it furiously.
그리고 지금 그 대장으로부터 신호인 마냥 모두 다른 상어들은 그 복숭아를 향해 왔다, 그리고 그들은 복숭아 주위로 무리를 이루고 미친듯이 복숭아를 공격하기 시작했다.
There must have been twenty or thirty of them at least, all pushing and fighting and lashing their tails and churning the water into a forth.
그들은 20마리 혹은 30마리 정도가 틀림없다. 모두 밀고 싸우고 그들의 꼬리로 때리고 물에 휘저었다.
Panic and pandemonium broke out immediately on top of the peach.
충격과 대혼란이 그 복숭아 맨위에서 즉시 발생했다.
"Oh, we are finished now!" cried Miss Spider, wringing her feet.
오, 우리는 이제 끝났어! 거미씨는 그녀의 발을 비틀며 소리쳤다.
"They will eat up the whole peach and then there`ll be nothing left us to stand on and they`ll start on us!"
그들은 그 복숭아를 전부 먹어버릴것이고 우리가 서 있을 아무것도 남기지 않을거야 그리고 그들은 우리를 먹을것이야!
"She is right!" shouted the Ladybug.
그녀가 맞아 그 무당벌레는 소리쳤다.
"We are lost forever!"
우린 영원히 사라질거야!
"Oh, I don`t want to be eten!" wailed the Earthworm.
오 나는 먹히고 싶지않아! 그 지렁이는 울먹거렸다
