But it is hard to say that there is no scientific evidence. The World Health Organization, WHO, stated thath they used scientists and medical staff from all over the world to study game addiction before classifying it as a disease, and other organizations have done research on game addiction as well. Thus, the bad effects of game addiction are too much to ignore. As for the game industry, I agree with you that game addiction could cause crash in gaming industry. However, wouldn't people's health be more important than economical growth? Game addiction disables people from leading a normal life. I think it is the government's responsibility to prevent their citizens from game addiction before securing economical growth. I read the article called the Journal of Behavioral Addiction which was mentioned in your essay. From reading this article, it made me think about the negative effect of this classification such as moral panics and stigmatization of gamers. Although I agree that it could have negative effects, I argue that there is more positive sides to this classification than the opposite. Therefore, I claim that game addiction should be classified as a disease.
